Buyer wants a refund a few hours after I left positive feedback. What to do?

I accepted a Best Offer from a buyer, the buyer paid right away. I left positive feedback as I always do after a buyer pays. A few hours after I left the positive feedback, I get a message from buyer asking for a refund saying that he does not want the item anymore. I don't know what to do. Is it even still possible to cancel the transaction so I can get my FVF fees back? Thanks to all helpers!

If you haven't shipped the item then you can refund the money and send the buyer a cancel transaction request.  When the buyer cancel's the transaction then you will get your final value fees back.  If the buyer does not cancel the transaction then you will have to wait about a week before you can cancel the transaction.  Either way, you will get your FVF back.  There is no sense in trying to debate with the buyer....just do as they like and all should be fine.  You may loose out on an extra insertion fee if you relist the item but that is minimal compared to an unhappy buyer and a possible negative feedback.

Re: Buyer wants a refund a few hours after I left positive feedback. What to do?

Don't fuss about the feedback. It's irrelevant for a buyer but it's your lifeblood as a seller. Even more important are the Detailed Seller Ratings.

I agree that, if you have not sent the item, you should just refund and start a Mutual Cancellation. That will get your fees back.

Not every transaction is going to work out.

If you have sent the item, politely explain the situation to the buyer and ask her to return the item when it arrives in her mailbox. Let her know that you will refund as soon as you have it back in your hands. Give her the time shipped and the service used. Then pray that she understands your situation.

No refunds without return.

Thanks for your reply michaelbb2. I refunded the buyer and sent a cancel transaction request. I just got concerned when I didn't see the "Resolve a Problem" link when I was trying to cancel the transaction. I forgot that I had to refund first for that option to be available. hahaha
