Buyers who don't come through

I just started selling items and I'm finding everyone wants to go offline and text. If I don't agree to it, they cancel their offer which takes forever for ebay to update. Is this (going offline, cancelling) common? Does anyone have strategies to avoid this? I've noticed that a couple of the sellers had signed up that day, and one of them, when I tried to contact them, had deleted their profile. Feedback would be appreciated.

Buyers who don't come through

as a new seller you are a target and what you are experiencing are not BUYERS, they are SCAMMERS...just waiting for YOU(their prey) to follow through and fall for their scheming ways...

Genuine buyers would purchase and pay. Scammers are the ones that just love to get you going by asking to do the texting/try to get you to take things away from eBay.

I would suggest that you have all your listings set for fixed price so that you can apply "Immediate Payment required"....that way any potential buyer MUST pay if they want the item.

NEVER ever message via texting...ALWAYS message through the eBay message system so eBay has a record of the goings on...

Use Fixed Price and Immediate Payment Required.

Don't use Auctions, which are a dying part of the eBay, down to less than 15% of transactions.

And change from the useless Simplified SellYour Item form to the much clearer Advanced/Business form which can be found by clicking on the Customize link near the top right of your Active Listings page.

No he didn't.

EBay spotted him as a scamming crook and bounced him.
