Can I get rid of my tax receipts/supporting for 2015 and 2016 now?

I checked the CRA website and it stated that a person only has to keep 6 years back of tax returns and supporting documents, which would mean I could get rid of 2016 and back.  I am not a very trusting individual and want to verify that with others.  Have you had any issues with your tax returns further back than 6 years?

I've always kept 7 years of tax returns. That is 6 years plus the current year. As far as I know, that is all you need to keep. Of course, I have never been audited. Whoops, now I've done it! 🫢

7th year since the date ???? Date of Filing or Date of receiving the relevant Notice Of Assessement, not sure which. Doesn't matter to hoarders!

I have two closets full of empty boxes

They are really good boxes!

Actually somewhere under all those boxes are my 2014 and 2015 receipts. Time to let them go.
