how does that work? who do I need to speak to to set this up? My bank or directly to ebay?
If I can;t resolve the paypal issue. I might consider that so I am asking for advice or tips. Anyone accepts credit cards? at least as one of the ways?

Go to .... Help and Contact at the top left of this page..
Do a search for payment options ..
---------------------------------
If a seller uses credit cards.... this payment option by a buyer is very specific for one credit card at a time.
Paypal accepts all credit cards..... Using Paypal means a seller does not have to have many credit cards as payment options... Paypal covers all buyer's credit card options.....

As I understand it the way to present it to the customer is we can accept credit cards through paypal.
There are two ways the buyer can pay via credit card:
-through PAYPAL to us
-directly via their credit card to us
To accept credit cards directly one has to set up an account with each of the credit card companies (as Momc said).
This isn't necessary if the buyer uses their credit card via their paypal account to pay us because PAYPAL bills to the CC and puts the money in our PAYPAL account, the CC transaction is between the buyer and PAYPAL.
Whenever folks ask me if I accept credit cards I say that I can only accept credit cards through PAYPAL...
PS as Momc says the first thing I would do is call PAYPAL directly...they've always been awesome when I call them (during normal business hours).

5 buyers may have 5 different credit card accounts....
As a seller that only uses credit cards, that would mean 5 different credit card accounts.
These 5 buyers can each have a Paypal account.... that means a seller needs one Paypal account for all 5 buyers.

You have 5 potential buyers, and each has a different credit card.
But... you as a seller will only accept Visa.... because you as a seller have an account with Visa and only with Visa, but not the other 4 credit cards.
On Paypal, the seller can sell to anyone with a Paypal account... regardless of which credit card the buyer uses with Paypal

why 5 different?
I don't know about needing 5, but when dealing direct, each credit card type like Visa, Mastercard, etc is a separate process.

To accept credit cards directly one has to set up an account with each of the credit card companies (as Momc said).
You have to start with the commercial desk at your bank.
Open a business account.
While these have some privileges, which differ from bank to bank and from account to account, most banks will require a business plan.
Then with the business account in hand you approach a processor like Moneris.
They rent you the processing machine (if you do shows, the hand held wireless one is a boon) for around $50 a month.
You will be charged for every payment you process.
The charge will be about 30 cents per transaction plus about 2.9% of the total payment, but when you start out the rate may be higher.
Be sure you get a machine that also processes debit cards.
You can choose which cards you want to accept with the basics being Visa and MasterCard. Avoid American Express - trust me. The basic cards may have different names- but are still MC or Visa.
TL/DR-- Paypal is cheap and easy.

Who are they?
Paypal sends you a notice that they have deposited a small amount in your bank account.
When you reply with the amount of that deposit, you are verified.
Then they take back the deposit.
Did that happen?
