coming up in 2025
lettermail up to 100g from $2.09 to $2.69
lettermail between 100g to 200g from $3.43 to $4.29
lettermail between 200g to 300g from $4.78 to $5.98
lettermail between 300g to 400g from $5.48 to $6.85
lettermail between 400g to 500g from $5.89 to $7.36
not released yet by Canada Post but provided by a trusted Canada Post employee. Apparently that price hike was in the book for awhile...nothing to do with the strike. I do not have the price hike for parcel but for sure there is one

The current rate is 99c (plus applicable service charge and tax) for up to 30g.
The word has been that that first rate would rise to $1.25.
The rate to 50gr is $1.40 and as you say from 50gr to 100 gr is $2.09.
Since the 99c /P stamp will rise in value it might be a good idea to lay in a supply of those.
Two P stamps ($1.98) currently need another 11c to make the 100gr rate.
Later this month those same stamps will be worth $2.50 and will need only 19c to make the rate.
And if you buy now, you pay tax on the 99c rate, not on the $1.25.

Thanks, I saw this on the Canadian Forum as well. I've updated my spreadsheet with the new numbers so I know how much postage to apply (for Canada orders I'm sometimes using stamps to pay for shipping). I'm about to update the auction listings so the new prices are running. I'm currently asking 2.65 to ship most items within Canada and that's not going to be enough when hike happens (on account of eBay getting their "cut" of my shipping fees).

The standard letter rate you quoted is only for single stamp purchases, the actual rate for mailing is $1.24

This is very important to remember.
If you are using postage stamps which you already have in hand, you only need to apply the rate, not the cost at the counter.
The applicable taxes were paid when the stamps were originally purchased.
Which is why the P stamps are a good deal today -even at counter rates.
By the end of January they will still pay the new higher counter rate, but the smart buyer paid the current 99c value and was taxed on that, not on the higher rate.

Also of note to anyone that uses it: the cost of Registering a domestic letter is going up from $10.50 to $13.15.
Parcel and flat rate box rates will not be increasing on January 13th. There is likely to be an increase sometime in the near future, but it won't be coinciding with the Lettermail rate increase.

Guess it's time to send out my list of discount postage to my private buyers.

The registered letter pretty much is not a good option anymore, and definitley not after 200grams. Just stick it in a flat rate box at that point. (and if selling on ebay, expedited lite is half the price and if your using lettermail anyhow it should fit with Expedited lite.)

I am assuming that Tracked Packet to the US will be going up soon. Any news on when that will occur?

No date has been specified as of yet, but expect one in the near future.
They're probably going to give people a bit of time to adjust to the 25% Lettermail increase before announcing a parcel rate increase.

And isn't there usually a bit of advance notice for the base rates?
I sell on .com with fixed shipping rates so a bit of notice is helpful to adjust those if it is a fairly big one. The usual ongoing fuel surcharge fluctuations are not enough to change flat shipping rates but a base rate increase could.

Currency fluctuations make a difference too.
The current rate (xe.com and mid-market NOT retail at bank counters) is 69c to $1.00USD.

Yes, there will be ample notice.
