Depends on what you mean by "recently" (this happened about two years ago) and the answer is somewhat complicated.
The tax-free limit is still C$20 for items sent by mail, but it's $40 for items sent by courier if they originate from the US or Mexico.
The duty-free limit for items sent by courier from the US or Mexico is C$150, by the way.

As far as I can tell. I guess our free trade deals with other nations/regions don't cover casual imports.
