Canadian and US Prices

I was selling only in US, however things seem to get a little mixed up every now and again. A

Canadian Buyer made a purchase for 95.99US - It was marked 105.12Canadian 'Buy It Now'.

I thought since it would have been my first sale I could pay a little difference.  Amazon had it

marked as 151.34 Canadian.  That was a bit too much of a difference.  Made contact with

the buyer.  OH  yes, I did try to sell it from my US site for the Canadian price and that did not

go through.

I went through prices and I think Canada has put up prices to compensate for postage fees.

A ten cent spread is about the current bank exchange.

The difference between the two currencies will vary from minute to minute (although most commercial entities like banks and Paypal) only change once a day. Twice if things are very volatile.

In addition, check the differences between a PP rate, the rate at the Royal Bank site http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/cgi-bin/travel/currency-converter.pl  and xe.com.  http://www.xe.com/  See?

If you list in US dollars you will be paid in US dollars. If the Canadian dollar drops (as it has been so far this year) you will actually make money on the exchange.

Us oldies remember when the difference was about 85cents CDN to $1.00USD. Good times.

You list in $U.S. so the Canadian dollar amount just gives a Canadian buyer the approximate cost in Cdn funds. But you will be paid in U.S. funds...the exchange rate does not affect the amount that you are paid.

You said you normally ship to the U.S. only but your listings don't even show on the  U.S. ebay.com site as you have just set up shipping to Canada, not to the U.S. If you want to ship to both Canada and the U.S. you can list on either ebay.ca or .com but if you want to ship to the U.S. only, then you must list on ebay.com. You can't list on ebay.ca and ship only in the U.S.
