With ever-rising Canada Post rates, I often think I'd love to have the option (when preparing a Paypal label) of having the actualamount I've paid shown on the label.
I'm one of those sellers who almost always gives my customers a break on shipping, yet I really don't feel comfortable sending them this sort of message: "You only paid $15, but I've upgraded your shipping at my expense and paid $20" (or whatever amount it really was). That just seems rather ill-mannered and a bit mean-spirited.
Still, I wouldn't mind my buyers seeing in black and white what I've paid for them -- just a little reminder of good service. Obviously sellers who "pad" their shipping wouldn't want this, but if it were an option when preparing the label...
Anyone agree? Do you think Paypal/eBay would do this, or in fact even be able to do this?

As one reads on the boards.....
A buyer is very much unhappy if they see that a seller has charged a lot more for shipping than the seller actually paid....
Or a seller charges for a more expensive option and then ships using a less expensive option.
Then ...
One can only guess that as the cost of postage goes up each year.... It is probably more important to let the buyer know what the actual cost of postage was..
and then...
for all Canadian sellers.... We live with the reality that postage is expensive when we use Canada Post... and US buyers may not know/understand how expensive mail is with Canada Post.

They do that on Tracked Package and now on small Package, just not on expedited. I too undercharge on packages (not letter rate) so I am happy that buyers can see that.

I use postage stamps. Anyone with decent addition skills can work out how much postage is on the package. But my dirty little secret is that I pay a lot less than face value for them.
Some sellers are including self-insurance in the shipping cost. All who are buying from Canada Post are paying GST and a fuel surcharge on Canadian shipments. This does not show on the label.
So no.

Not even at the seller's option?
I understand what 'cumos' is saying, that many sellers wouldn't want to have that information arbitrarily displayed.
My point was that for the rest of us who do give our buyers a break on the shipping cost (often a substantial one, including paying for full insurance), I think it would be be nice to be able to choose to have it displayed on the label.
