Do we have to change to Managed Payments even if I don't have a store?

Having a hard time understanding this new change. I was under the impression that is was more suited to Ebay Stores, however the latest message I received on Dec 1st almost sounds as though everyone has to change. I am a little unsure trust wise (having to giive my banking info a second time online), also sounds like the fees will be greater than they currently are through Paypal. Can any other Canadian non-store seller shed some light on this.?

Re: Do we have to change to Managed Payments even if I don't have a store?

Before Managed Payments eBay sellers had two fees to pay....  eBay fees separate from Paypal fees.

With managed payments there is only fee to pay....  That fee is the total of eBay...plus... Paypal fees.

It will take a while to adjust to what ...  appears.....  to be a higher  number for fees.

We must understand  that the number value for fees is a total for what used to be eBay fees separate from Paypal fees.

This Managed Payments fee structure is the same for all sellers on eBay.... whether the sellers sell with or without a store.  A store fee is a  part of eBay's fee structure.

Re: Do we have to change to Managed Payments even if I don't have a store?

eBay announced over 2 years ago, that ALL sellers would be required to use the new Managed Payment system to be able to continue selling on eBay... There is no option, no opting out when your name is called to join. Accept, Adapt, adjust to MP and continue selling on eBay or move on & go elsewhere...that's the choice.

As a very low volume seller for the past few years, and one who feels MP isn't a good fit for my online selling, I don't want the hassles, don't want to set up a bank account for eBay's benefit, nor do I care to jump through eBay's hoops to continue selling here, I will just quietly exit when the time comes - I am already selling on another site so really don't have anything to lose by leaving eBay...

For everybody. Eventually.  It is still a work in progress.

I have been ignoring the vaguely worded emails eBay has been sending.  I will switch when I am told I must, or when eBay finally solves all the problems that it would create for me as a Seller -- I list on 2 ebay sites (.ca and.com) and in some categories MP does not currently handle payment for.

eBay does not get more access to your bank account than when they owned PayPal. Ayden does the financial processing for eBay Managed Payments.

If you are worried about providing a bank account for ebay, consider getting a no monthly fee account from tangerine (owned by ScotiaBank) or simplii (owned by CIBC) for deposits.

If you do sign up -- providing your SIN (Social Insurance Number) is optional under Canadian law, eBay can not require it.
