EBAY.COM SHIPPING CAP INCREASED FOR BOOKS, VIDEO GAMES, DVDS ETC

If you list on ebay.com and sell from Canada, this is for you:

BOOKS, MUSIC, MOVIES AND VIDEO GAME SELLERS: WE’VE INCREASED THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SHIPPING COSTS ON...

For many years now, sellers of books, music, movies and video games have been subject to maximum permitted shipping costs when listing on eBay.com.

Based on US shipping rates, these limits have been historically challenging for Canadian sellers, who typically face much higher shipping costs on media items.

To make it easier for Canadians and other non-US sellers to list in these eBay.com categories, the maximum allowable shipping costs in the Books, Music, Movies and Video Games categories have been increased significantly.

Books, Music, Movies and Video Games are the only eBay.com categories that are subject to shipping cost limits. There are no shipping cost limits in place on eBay.ca.

With these changes in mind, we encourage all sellers to remain competitive with their shipping costs. Offering buyers a low shipping cost – or even free shipping – is a great strategy for attracting more potential buyers and generating more sales.

It's a warning flag, not an error flag -- just telling you that item is in a capped category for eBay.com -- it's not telling you that your shipping is over the cap. A bit like a sign warning that your vehicle is entering a school zone.

For many years, when I/we listed on .ca in USD, the items would show up on .com, if we had a shipping charge to the US. Years ago, when ebay introduced the maximum shipping amount, they always told us, that if the cost to the buyer, was over the maximum, the listings, would be put,on a lower search algorithm.

Of course, now we have to list on .com, in order to still keep the USD pricing. I just think it is strange that ebay has either forgotten about their policy, or I missed them rescinding the policy earlier.

I am very happy that ebay has made this significant change, it is very welcome, and I hate to say it, but could it be a sign, that they are actually listening to the sellers.

Here's something of a curiosity for me. This book was listed on ebay.ca and I use Calculated Shipping with no handling fees always. Why do I keep getting this orange flag on Bulk Edit?

It's just a warning that the eBay API hands out.

I list using SixBit via the API, even though I list Media on .ca every listing I do gets the "soft error" that there are shipping caps on .com in this category.....remember I'm listing to .ca not .com but I still get the warning.

I also get a warning about image size if my images are less than 1000px (the recommended minimum) but more than 500px (the absolute minimum).
