Ebay - the beginning of the end.

I've been on ebay since 2001 and and I've come to the realization that the company has gone downhill and now it doesn't really care about sellers. Luckily, I'll be ditching eBay soon for a better platform / startup that I'm developing.

1 - Buyer quality has gone downhill SIGNIFICANTLY. I sell auto parts, which require people to at least read descriptions about fitment, and I have to cancel 10-15% of my sales because buyers are stupid and don't read item descriptions. I verify orders by phone. Now with PayPal fees not being refunded, these stupid buyers are costing  money.

2 - Paypal not refunding fees anymore. This is a big issue. I haven't checked if fees are refunded with managed payments though.

3 - Horrible customer support. In the old  days, all powersellers, at least big ones, had a dedicated account rep. Now that's gone. All you can deal with are people in india who can barely speak english.

4 - Ebay dispute process is against sellers. I had several buyers recently fail to return items because they didn't want to pay for shipping, and because I didn't provide a shipping label because I was not required to, and ebay just gave them their money back. This is ridiculous.

It seems that ebay has forgotten how they make their money... from sellers. From commissions. Treating sellers like **bleep**, well... it can work temporarily, but eventually revenues will dry up, especially when a new selling platform emerges that doesn't treat sellers like **bleep**. Ebay had a good run of 25 years, but eventually all companies end up going bankrupt when they get too careless biting the hand that feeds them.
