FedEx Canada to USA - extra fees at the other end?

I've noticed recently that FedEx International Ground shipping to the US is often significantly cheaper than Canada Post Expedited Parcel/Tracked Packet. Is there a catch at the other end? I've only received a couple of items from abroad via FedEx and that was some time ago. I remember being surprised to find the equivalent of a delivery fee on top of import charges. Is that the case from Canada to the US? I don't want to choose the cheaper option (for me) only to find I've stuck the buyer with an extra payment.

Don't accept what I say without checking the US FedEx website.....

There probably are no customs related additional fees for shipments valued at under US$800 which is the free import limit into the US.

Personally I would be using UPS over FedEx, although my experience is pretty old, UPS service was smooth, FedEx not so much.

When I was using UPS (same would apply to FedEx) I always used "Free Domocile" billing, meaning that any additional charges would be billed to ME not the recipient.

When I was involved in that type of shipping FedEx were always known as the kings of up charges!
