Help! Ready To Abandon Ship!

First of all, let me say I hate this Managed Payments already. Had my first sale using it. So eBay sends me an e-mail saying item is sold & paid for. But I have no record of where the money is yet. PayPal always sent me the paid statement with all the information & making a label through them was easy.  Tried to print up the information from the eBay email but was that was a pain. Had to copy & paste to a document & then print it up. Then went to PayPal to try & print a label but could find nowhere to do that. Tried the dreaded Shippo link which I have never used. It confused me even more. Now I have no idea what to do. Will probably go over to Snap Ship on Canada Post site & manually put in all the information. eBay has made the whole process a nightmare & a big waste of time for me. Can anyone suggest an easier way?

Are you not using Seller Hub?

All of the sale info will be listed on the Orders page, click on the order # to open the shipping info and invoice.

I'm not yet in MP but there is a Payments page in SH so I assume that is where the funds will be shown as have been received or in process of being so by ebay.

Transactions are listed on the Orders page in Seller HUB...

My record of the sale is the Order Details page associated with each transaction.

The money received from a buyer is  listed on the Payments page on the Seller Hub page.

With Managed Payments on eBay Canada,  the FVF for each transaction is not deducted from the total of item price plus shipping cost before the money is transferred  to your bank account.

FVF are added to the monthly invoice.  My monthly invoice is paid with a credit card

eBay sellers on Managed Payments  no longer use Paypal to receive a payment.  Also my eBay invoice is  no longer paid using  Paypal money.

Thanks for the info. I am still a bit confused though. So are you saying that the complete amount of the item including shipping will be deposited to my bank account. And then all the fees will still be added to my monthly invoice like before? I have always paid for them with my credit card.

Are we being charged 11.5% in fees now? That includes final value fees on the item & shipping? A one time fee of .30 on each transaction? An international conversion fee? And then taxes added on to all the fees?

I am still wondering how to print up labels on PayPal. I was told Managed Payments shouldn't change that & that the tracking number will still be sent to the eBay transaction. I think they lied. I can find nowhere to print up a label on PayPal without a transaction having gone through there.

If you still want to print labels using paypal go to:

paypal.com/shipnow

But you will need to copy and paste the address details.

The link to ...Print shipping label ... can be found at several location in relation to a transaction.

It can be seen for each transaction in the left navigation column of the Orders page...

Or.... on the orders detail page for each transaction

If you go to the transaction on eBay & hit print shipping label it only takes you to Shippo. And on PayPal there is no record of the sale. I just went to Canada Post & used Snap Ship & had to manually put in all the information.

With something new we  have to make adjustments....

find out how to do it  and then make it happen... again and again...

and learn more about that something new

Managed Payments became my option on eBay on August 10.....

and it works well for me....  and still adjusting to the reality of what I see...

Wow, when did that start working again?  I thought they stopped it working for Canadians years ago.

Did you mean to type that the fvf IS deducted before the money is deposited to the sellers bank?  You wrote that it isn’t but I’m guessing that was a typo

Post 6 in this thread gives you the address for PP that you need to use if you want to print a label there when you use MP.  But you do have to input all of the info yourself.  It would be basically like using Snapship but you could use PP to pay if you have enough funds there.

I don’t find Shippo all that difficult to use so that is the route that I would go if I was in MP. But I don’t know if they will let you use a credit card now to pay or if you still have to pay through PP.

If they ever get eBay shipping set up for a Canadians you will probably have the option of having the shipping taken out of the amount you were paid.

That doesn't seem to work for Canadians. It only gave me USPS & not Canada Post to choose for printing labels.

With Managed Payments on eBay Canada...

The Payments handles the total of item price plus shipping...

eBay FVF are not deducted before the payout  is sent to a seller's bank account.  This is different than what happens on eBay US where the FVF are deducted before the sum of item price plus shipping is sent to the seller's bank account

The FV F are added to the monthly invoice.....  where GST/HST is calculated on the total of FVF plus store subscription... if the seller has a store.

I had wondered how the GST/HST amount would be calculated if the FVF was deducted for each transaction before the seller received a payout.

Calculation of the GST/HST amount owed by a seller in a monthly invoice is an easier less complicated option.

I just tried it again. I typed in paypal.com/shipnow   signed in, choose paypal shipping and entered the buyer's info. It gave me a choice of using Canada Post or UPS.  I don't know why you are seeing USPS options.  Are you trying to go directly from your listing as you can't do that..you have to open a new window and type in the url given above.

That's odd. They must have changed that after they posted the following info.  I'm not in MP so perhaps this info is out of date.

Your final value fee will be automatically deducted from your sales proceeds, and the rest paid out to your bank account. In general, the variable portion of the final value fee is returned to you in the event of a refund or cancellation, and we retain only the per order fee.

tyler@ebay  If they are not currently deducting the fvf from the sales proceeds before depositing into Canadian accounts as cumos55 has stated  will they be doing so in the future?

@pjcdn2005

Nothing changed, you didn't miss anything....FVF's are deducted immediately from your sales and the balance is part of your payout.

Your monthly invoice is only for listing fees, store subscriptions fees and any refunds that eBay was NOT able to deduct from funds that are available and waiting for your next payout.

I don't know why cumos keeps posting that fvf's are billed on your monthly invoice, while they do show up as a total that has been charged they are not included in the total owed for that invoice (since they have already been deducted from your daily or weekly payouts).

I don't know why so many people are opposed to Shippo.

I used to ship out of PayPal until ebay made the switch a while ago. Tried it, and it really streamlined the process.  it's very simple, once you get used to it.  Insurance is cheaper than CPC on more expensive items too. compare rates if you hook up other carriers.. I only wish they would do Dicom and Canpar too.

if you do any kind of volume, get a 4x6 thermal printer and order labels (FREE) from Canada Post thru your canada post account (Solutions for Small Business).

No more toner to replace... takes no time flat to stick labels on vs. taping or using expensive full page sheets. My Zebra paid for itself in 3 months. . over 2 years ago.

Also... shipping on your own accounts rather than PayPal means you can pay your Carrier bills with your own credit card (and collect points..or miles..) rather than the 0% benefit you get for using paypal , and without the painfully slow process of using CPC ship n click or whatever.

Hi @pjcdn2005 - in managed payments Final Value Fees should be being deducted from the payment before it is paid out. @cumos55 - your experience sounds unique and a different from what other folks are experiencing, I've gotten it reported for review.
