Hey guys!
For the past 5 years I paid my eBay fees with PayPal but for the first time this month the payment didn't go though. I called PayPal and they told me it was no longer possible to pay eBay fees with them...
So I started using my credit card instead. Is these any disadvantage of using my credit card?

I have a credit card attached to my PP account, and from time to time my fees were paid from it when my PP balance was too low.
But on July 15, all of my eBay payments came from my PP balance.
What date do you pay your fees on?

Is your Paypal account a US or a Canadian one?
The rules have changed for US PP accounts as they need to have a special 'cash plus' account in order to pay for items but that isn't the case for Canadian accounts. My ebay fees came out of PP on the last day of the month.

The agent from PayPAl was categoric - no longer possible to pay eBay fees with PayPal at all and nothing could be done about that according to him.
Well - I get cashback paying with my credit card instead so I don't thing I will investigate this further. I think it seems more advantagous this way no?

This does not sound right.
No official email has been received indicating something has changed.
My eBay fees were paid on July 15 using Paypal...

If a seller has sufficient funds in their PayPal account, PayPal is as safe as any bank account.

Have been using PayPal to pay eBay fees for over 10 years, without problem and that option is still available and the payment I just made on my eBay account balance minutes ago, was processed. No problem paying eBay fees with PayPal.

I received an email yesterday evening from eBay for my July invoice for monthly selling fees.
At the bottom of the email was the payment method:
Automatic payment method: PayPal
Date: Between August 15, 2019 and August 17, 2019

Hi @vip-marketplace - if you get more points with a credit card I say keep it on file!
However, to echo what others have said, that does not sound correct. I've not received any updates or indications from PayPal that they are changing the way they do business with us.
If you were curious to pursue it with them further, I suggest contacting them via Twitter (I know, Tyler on his social media horse once again ) for a few reasons:
1. The caliber of social media teammate is very good.
2. You get a response in writing.
3. If you ask for it they are good about pointing you to a publicly available source of information to verify and research.
Thanks!
