How many think there is too much of a negative being a Canadian seller on eBay.? That is it becoming much more diifcult to succeed here? Who thinks it has improved? Who feels they only have postive experiences selling from Canada & they have not seen a decline after the pandemic? This is not a comparison to selling during the pandemic. It is an overall comparison over several years. Good luck to all. 🙂

Higher volumes of sales went by the wayside about 10 years ago...
However, I maintain my casual/infrequent seller status now for over 4 years as I continue to sell off a collective of this'n'that/no longer needed/no longer wanted items; as after nearly 8 decades on this earth, there is no need to hang on to'em any longer...I am not here to make an income, I sell online because I want to, not because I have to...
I have had nothing but positive selling experiences for many, many years and have never had a return...
Defintely not selling quite as much on eBay as a few years ago, but I am also pushing some of my items more on my other selling site ...

Simply put, it's hard to sell right now. Uncertainty is the biggest enemy. Many don't have the money and those that do are vulturing around for deals too good to pass up.

If you are asking about the last several years I would have to say it had been improving for me personally up to the last little while. I sell in a collectibles category (Barbies) and a lot of my buyers are repeat/regular customers and I know this took a while to build up those followers. I do feel that US sellers have more perks than we do but I was plugging along fairly well. When the postal strike last November was looming I decided to stop selling until things calmed down, waited until the new year but it seemed like there was one thing after another to worry about with the tarriffs changing, another unknown with the postal disagreements, etc. About 80% of my buyers are/were from the US and each week I think I might start up again the following week, come here to the forum and see posts that keep making me postpone yet again!
The older I get the less I want to stress but I have been taking photos and getting ready to jump in again a bit at a time. As others have said I think the uncertainty of the times is the biggest factor and this wouldn't be just a Canadian thing.

I stopped buying books for resale because the shipping costs were too high to make them a reasonable purchase after the UPU decided that international shipping of goods had to go package rates with customs declarations.
I kept my current stock because eBay negotiated a 53% discount on Tracked Packages USA, which can be cheaper even than using the discount postage stamps I have available.
On DHs account, sales have been roaring along. They were very strong all through 2024 when Biden was in power, although normally I see a drop off from April to August. Not last year.
This year the drop off returned, but not as much as usual.
I have records going back to 2014 to compare.
