InsurePost - Do I use US or Cdn dollars for the insured amount?

First time using InsurePost. Doesn't say on the form if I should show the insured amount in US or Cdn dollars so if you have used this company would appreciate an answer to my  question. Also, what kind of form do you get stamped at the post office to show receipt by the P.O. if I print my Light Packet shipping label on PayPal?

Thanks!

Light packet has no bar code and cannot generate a scan in receipt that small packet does. I just get the small packet scan in receipt stamped front and back with the day stamp.

Light packet through paypal does have a bar code, and I'm petty sure I got a receipt scan for the last one I dropped off at the postal outlet. I'll have to pay attention the next time.

Original Poster: I'd use the currency the item was sold with. But you could ask InsurePost what they prefer.

My mistake, the last package got upgraded to small packet air because it was cheaper than sending using light packet.

Well, not going to ship using Small Pkt if I can ship Light Pkt since it is cheaper. I guess the other way is to write up a cn22 and have the (usually unreadable) carbon copy stamped at the post office. Would that work I wonder?

If you use PayPal shipping labels and Light Packet, just print an extra copy of the label with the bottom half intact and bring that to the post office with your package. Show the clerk the package and the copy and have her use their date stamp on the extra copy of the label. This should be sufficient proof for InsurePost. This is what they said was acceptable when I asked 2-3 years ago.

For 300g and under Light Packet beats Small Packet (Air). Different story over 300g.

USA - Light Packet vs Small Packet (2015)

201-300g ..  7.00  Light Packet
251-500g .. 10.79 Small Packet (Air)
301-500g .. 11.75 Light Packet
Small Packet beats Light Packet for 301g to 500g range.

International

Small Packet can beat Light Packet for the 301g to 500g range for some parts of the world (Small Packet has different rates depending on what part of the world it's going to). For example: UK $18.98 or Japan $20.98 vs $21. But Brazil would be $21.63 vs $21.
