Last rant about moving to .com/listing in Can

Like almost all of you, I was upset about the change to list in CAN/transfer to .com. I figured I'll transfer some to .com and keep some in CAN. What I didn't realize then is that the listings don't just change currency/site, they become completely brand new listings. All the sales records, views, watchers on the GTC listings get deleted (go back to zero). Plus the listing date becomes today's date even on GTC listings. I realize that for some of you, this may not seem relevant as you don't sell large quantities of each item, but for me this was a major blow. Since I started keeping my good till cancelled listings with sales running, the sales on those items and their visibility in search results dramatically improved (so did my sales in general). True, I was not big time like the Chinese whose listings show 5,000 sold,but I was proud of my 30, 50, 80 sold. Buyers are much more likely to buy something they know others have bought. Now I have to start everything from zero again. Ebay you are HORRIBLE for doing this.

Now I'm thinking that maybe the whole hidden purpose of the change was to generate a gizillion NEW listings for whatever stockholder-related agenda eBay has. They wanted their sites to be flooded with new listings to give the appearance of "site activity". Plus, think about all the unlimited free listing promos we've been getting. I've had them straight for months for .com and .ca - they just keep renewing every month. Since when is eBay in the habit of giving us anything for free? Nothing is ever free. Shame on eBay for the deception and hidden agendas. This is no way to conduct business. I knew the whole thing was fishy; I hope I've figured it out...

I don't think there was a hidden agenda bug I do agree that losing your sale history would be extremely frustrating.

I'm in the same situation when my USD GTC listings expire on eBay.ca in Aug/Sept.

It's like basically starting over on eBay.com. All my watchers on my listings will disappear and my momentum will be lost for the first few months until the items begin to re-circulate. 

Of course that's if I don't have any trouble with the migration tool.

If it causes trouble for me I will have to list them individually which could take months of copy and pasting descriptions and search through thousands of scanned images on my computer, or re-scanning photographs that have already been deleted.

I curse eBay.ca for making this policy change!!

I can't believe they didn't tell us this would happen either. I don't remember them saying anything about migrated listings becoming brand new listings. And I can't believe there hasn't been much uproar on this. Maybe not that many people run their listings to increase sales numbers? Honestly for me, that number increasing was more important than the actual sale itself because I've seen the benefits first hand. It makes buyers trust you and it gives them that last push when they are hesitating. It makes them think: "if 100 people bought this, it must be a great product and a good deal". Which also means you can charge more and they will pay. The higher the sale number, the more views, the higher on search results and the higher overall sales due to exposure. Now with my current high prices, it will be hard for me to build those numbers up again. I'll have to drop all my prices to make the sales, then raise my prices again when the sales record is high enough. Can't believe eBay robbed us of our hard work. Might as well have taken my Powerseller, top rated seller statuses away and deleted all feedbacks from my accounts too.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that migration tool. I tried it a week ago on one of my accounts and it was a HOT MESS. It takes longer to correct all its problems/glitches than it does to list from scratch.

Migrated listings I believe will become "new" listings"... that's is a good thing.

You also won't lose your sales history....

Your "sales history" won't disappear because even though you are migrating your listings (I'm moving everything to eBay.com) your store will still be based on eBay.ca.

The big issue will be is migrating your listing in bulk. If it goes smoothly it will be only a temporary inconvenience but if there's problems then it could be a long-term inconvenience.

If I have to relist my listings individually, I can't see myself doing more then 20 per day and I doubt I will be able to go day after day relisting without burning out. 

It's been a very frustrating and time consuming endeavor for every seller...

If your been following the Community threads over the last 3-4 months you will see there's been a lot of seller uproar over this conversion fiasco.

Yes, sadly my number of sales for each listing disappeared on all the listings I migrated to .com. Like the "20 sold" for example became "0/nothing". I'll be really mad if they find a way to keep that number running and I jumped the gun and migrated my listings too soon (geez maybe I should have waited...)

Yes I've been following the threads for the last few months and I totally missed this specific topic. It was hard to keep up - There was so much to read, it got quite intense for a while there too lol!

I'm just waiting for my listings to end in Aug/Sept. Then I won't have too worry about duplicate listings.

I will migrate them in small batches as they end ie; 10 listings end on day one etc...

I was never a big poster but I started to get more involved over the last few months with this currency change fiasco on eBay.ca. 

It's actually nice to see that there are regular posters that want to help and support their eBay community.... Kudos to them all!

Ah i think you are doing it the right way, it did make more sense to wait for them to end to avoid duplicates! I chickened out of doing it that way because when eBay said it would end the listings, I was afraid that the listings wouldn't end up on in the "unsold" bin, that they would just be removed and disappear like when you get a policy violation on a listing and they just delete it (yes, sadly I got my first serious violation last month). Maybe you should double check with someone at eBay that the listings will end up in the unsold bin once they end otherwise it will be a nightmare!

I too wasn't involved much until the conversion thing was announced and I've been finding it quite useful and interesting since! It makes sense to help each other out, especially with eBay customer service being so bad - I never get help when I call them.

In  your ...Active File .....of listings on eBay ... order the listings based on ... Time left.

End your listings about 2 to 3 days before they are supposed to end...  that is to be ended by eBay.

and you will have a record of each listing in the ...Unsold File...

What happens if your items are ended by eBay.ca, will they still show up as "ended listings" on my eBay?

Perhaps  the first day this should happen could be a test day.  leave one listing up for eBay to cancel

Silver I say don't take a chance on this unless you know for sure. Because when eBay ends your listings for other reasons, they don't end up in the unsold bin, they disappear. I always assumed that the only time a listing can end up in your "unsold" bin is when you end it yourself. ***I'd definitely try to get a definitive answer on this before you make a move.

This is a complete travesty. Losing the sales history is pure laziness on eBay's part. I can't even begin to express how frustrated and bewildered by this companies complete lack of business acumen.

Lol i had forgotten about this post, until I it just popped up again so naturally I re-read it and now I'm irritated at eBay all over again, haha.
FYI, since I posted this and moved my items over, I'm lucky if I have generated a sale history of 3 sold items for a listing. At this rate, it will take me years to build it up again. And that's the sad update folks. Thanks a lot eBay 👎
