My funds are being held until I update my account details and was told I need to provide my SIN. I was reading and thought the field was optional and thought it was unlawful in Canada for a company to make your provide your SIN. I don't feel too comfortable providing it.

I was the person that originally provided Tyler with the indicator that providing the SIN was optional
Optional is defined as .....available to be chosen but not obligatory.
It is not obligatoery for eBay to have the SIN provided for Managed Payments registration... but may be required when the SIN is eventually chosen as a requirement by eBay

Understood and as Tyler has agreed. The problem still is that eBay CS has told the OP to get paid the requirement is to have the SIN filled in. eBay's end of story. eBay's legal department should have had their ducks in row when they jerry rigged an application for Canada.

The last cs person I talked to a week ago said since i'm still having troubles verifying account details what he will do is talk to his IT department and have them program a feature so I can upload my drivers license as an alternate verification. Apparrently that was not done and had to call again today and she was going to send another request off. I wish there was a way for them to bypass my verification or let the information I entered to go through as they can see I've been with ebay since the year 2000 so it's not like i'm a new member.

My sign up window was winding down, didn't care to encounter an interruption so I signed up today.
The application was extremely brief, after confirming my name, address and phone number I was asked to provide my date of birth, bank transit and account number ... nothing else.
Upon confirming my bank account info my account was literally activated within seconds. I was expecting to be asked to provide some sort of verification of my identity but nope, did not happen. There was definitely no mention of providing a SIN today.
Within half an hour of signup my first MP transaction occurred. Prior to that transaction occurring I had full access to the SH Payment tab pages Summary, Transactions, Payouts, Reports and Settings. Now, that transactions have occurred I've lost access to the SH Payments tab, selecting that tab directs me to the My eBay transactions page. It's as if I have opted out of the payments portion of Seller Hub.
Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?
Shortly after I enrolled in MP there were options to make minor changes to my original application via the PayOuts section with settings. Part of "See All". I believe one of the fields was SIN IF you had filled that in. This no longer seems possible. The ONLY things you are able to update is your bank account information and payout scehdule. (Similar results in eBay Seller Preferences.)
Is there any way for a seller with these kinds of set up issues to resolve what @steel145 and others are reporting? "The simpler way to get paid" eBay email does not have any information regarding the original application. The only link that I can find is the following:
https://www.ebay.ca/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4792
****(Title does not really match the page you've arrived at)****
The above link gives you access to the page below but only access to very limited fields. (There is no mention of that above noted dreaded optional SIN that is causing all the grief)

I read. I did a major deep dive and SIN field does not display on my screen in any location. Like most things eBay screens/help files can and do vary.
For sellers where things went smoothly this is NOT an issue in the scheme of things. For sellers where there something went wrong it IS a major roadblock. They just want to get paid. How about a tab called either Update or Modify?

Sounds like this is happening to a lot of sellers right now. Makes me wonder if eBay is collecting interest every day on all that payout money from buyers that is just sitting in their account before being paid to the sellers?? If so, they are then they are laughing all the way to the bank!

"On the bright side, if you are not enrolled in MP , but have started the procedure, you can keep getting your payments through PP."
Are you sure about that? Somehow I can't see eBay allowing that to happen but maybe. I haven't enrolled yet so I have no idea if that works or not. All I know is that until eBay gets all the kinks fixed in this, I don't want to be their guinea pig and allow them to make interest on my money being held when I could actually be making interest on it myself by transfering it to a savings account. Yes I know with the current interest rates for 1 person that interest would be very little but multiply it by millions of members and it is substantial.
Anyway I am still sitting tight for now (maybe forever). Yes If they disable my listings, I will lose money but then so will they. And again it would not be a lot of money for them to lose out on from just me but multiply it by millions of members and it is substantial. Get the picture!

Hey everyone take a look at this information on the Canada Revenue site regarding your SIN. I have worked for the Legal Aid Society in the past but think I may now need to take a refresher course as things change over time. Here is the link. Expand sections 5 and 6 and pay close attention to the info in these two sections.
Hope this helps!

Seems the link I sent is not working for some unknown reason???? So just do a search for "Is my SIN required by eBay Canada to sell on their site" You should have an option to go to the Revenue Canada from there and look for info regarding who you DO NOT have to give your SIN to.

It's already been made clear by ebay reps that we are not required to give our SIN to eBay Canada when setting up MP. It seems that this information is not always being carried over to ebay customer service.
