Hi guys,
Maybe someone can help me understand or maybe there's a field missing in the orders.
I had an order for Mexico. Now, we need to add the TAX ID for their customs. I couldn't get this info in the order page. Contacted the buyer, no answer. So I had to ship it without this info hoping it will not be delayed too much at custom... Needed to send it so I don't get a late shipment defect and didn't want to cancel it for this reason.
Now, in a recent news, we learned that Mexico TAX ID field is supposed to be mandatory on the checkout... But in the order, I could'nt see that info at all.
So, any one of you already saw the Tax ID info in an order from Mexico? Or eBay is not providing it to us ? Maybe this field is not mandatory as it shoud be?

If I have this info, I will add it to the label. Using Shippo, there's warnings everywhere to input this in the Notes of the label.
devon@ebay can you confirm that the new mandatory TAX ID field for Mexico is implemented in checkout for Mexico's buyers? If so, I could not see it in the order details. Can you confirm it was implemented for sellers to see it too?
It's not very useful if the field is mandatory and filled... but sellers cannot see it to use the info 😉
Hi @chicweb! I am working with the Shipping team to get more information on this.

@chicweb The Shipping team confirmed that it has been implemented for all transactions to Mexico, similar to Brazil we collect it at checkout.

devon@ebay Do sellers have access to this information in the order page?
Last order I got from Mexico, there was no way for me to know this information to use on a shipping label.

Just an update here. The customer received the item even without the TAX ID.
But I don't recommend it. It took longer and they might get more strict with time.
This is the reason sellers need to see that info in the order. Very important.

Unsure if you have had any shipments for Mexico but if you have, have any of the methods you use updated the paperwork to match those requirements? Well and good to make an official.
announcement. Much better to make changes to current paperwork to accomodate those requirements.
devon@ebay Is eBay going to make that information visible to the seller so they can add to the paperwork where required? That includes the part about a field with a real email addy. The eBay one sellers are provided is ebay internal only and does not work for outside requirements. (Claims, customs, tracking...)

Update 03/06: The United States government has announced that the tariffs described below have been paused until April 2, 2025. eBay Canada will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide relevant information through the eBay Community.
eBay’s priority is to provide sellers with accurate and timely information to help them understand the impact of the new US Executive Orders and how to comply with new requirements.

Again devon@ebay , No TAX ID info in an order to Mexico.
I have the address, city, postal code, country.
I have the first name and last name.
I have the phone number.
I have the selected service for shipping.
No info on TAX ID.
How can we enter this on the shipping label if we want to ship it without any problems to our customers if we don't see it in the order page ?
Even if I try to by a label from eBay label, that info is nowhere to be found.

eBay really seem to be dropping the ball with the tax ID for Mexicans and (apparently) Brazilian buyers. The two largest Latin American economies.
I haven't had any buyers from these countries, but it makes hesitant to sell to them anything. eBay is not making things any easier.
