I was not ever messaged or shown there is a 10% seller fee! This is just a complaint but eBay is money hungry scum. 40$ charge what a joke. Learned my lesson good by eBay.

I would recommend you fully understand Amazon selling fees before you start selling there because if you're leaving eBay over 10% selling fees you're probably going to be disappointed with Amazon's fees.

It is the seller's responsibility to read the rules, the policies, and know what the fees are, BEFORE listing any items. By reading eBay's Seller Information, you would have known what is involved in selling on eBay. The same applies to any venue where you list items.

At one time before submitting your listing eBay would show you a break down of your fees.
I haven't sold anything in over ten years.
Do they no longer show you your fees before submitting your listing?
Fees explained here https://www.ebay.ca/pages/help/sell/fees.html

Although it may depend on which listing form is being used; yes there is fee info available at time of listing. If a seller does not have free listings to use, the fees charged for that listing are shown at the bottom of the listing at time listing is submitted. Also any added features for which there are fees will also be shown before the listing is submitted.
However, OP may be referring to FVFs...as reference is made to 10% seller fee. There is no specific fees shown there on the listing, but there is definitely the info to find out as per this statement that appears directly above the blue box to click "List item" and the options to Preview/Save as draft/Cancel" :
"If your item sells, we charge a final value fee based on a percentage of the total cost to the buyer, less any sales tax.Your listing may not be immediately searchable by keyword or category for several hours (up to 24 hours in some circumstances), so eBay can't guarantee exact listing durations. Learn more By listing, you agree to pay fees above, accept the listing conditions above and the eBay User Agreement, acknowledge reading User Privacy Notice, and assume full responsibility for the content of the listing and item offered."
In any case, reading and knowing the fee %s that will be charged across the various categories if the item sells, is a must-know BEFORE listing an item, and it is the seller's responsibility to learn all that prior to listing and/or selling on eBay.

you're in for a rude awakening going to Amazon if you think 10% is overkill

Selling at a local auction will cost a minimum of 25 %... Some will charge 35 % and then maybe up to 50 %.
Selling on eBay allows a seller to control the price of a fixed price sale...
OP may be unhappy because he might have been selling something he bought and then expected the buyer to pay the price he paid...... and then found out it cost him $40 to sell it on eBay.

Fyi, Amazon will cost them over $60 to sell, as many of the sellers here already know. Plus Amazon is not for everybody, the pro sellers there are not as nice as the ones on ebay. Very little seller support there as well.
Lastly, no control on your listing, as they tend to be fluid, and can change on the seller with no notice. Beware.

Plus if you find a good product that sells like hotcakes, don't be surprised if Amazon starts selling it and shoves you to the curb. Seriously.

You did read the Terms and Conditions and the fees https://www.ebay.ca/help/fees-billing you would be charged before you "Listed" items to sell, right?
Why would eBay message you about the fees, it's your due diligence to be informed...
...as for Amazon good luck with that.

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM 2019
The problem with zombie threads is that they may include information or advice that is out of date and misleading.
For example, the usual FVF is now between 5% and 14.55% with the median being about 12.55%, due to changes in payment processing.
