According to a recent email from PayPal, for those Canadians that were fortunate enough to get the PayPal debit card many years ago, will soon lose that card.
The email I received states:
"Based on changes to the PayPal Business Debit Mastercard® program, the card will no longer be issued in Canada. Unfortunately, that means it will be necessary for us to close your card effective April 15, 2018."

I too got this email.
I know that also Amazon cards from Chase Bank are also all being discontinued in Canada and all accounts closed.
Maybe there is something that happened higher up legislatively that is making this happen?
I have not been able to find out any real information for either canceling of cards

Probably not related. Chase Bank has been in the process of pulling out of Canada for a couple of years. From what I've read Scotiabank (as a subcontractor) has been providing the processing for the last of the Chase branded cards. I think the 0% foreign exchange fee helped them make their decision to close -- not enough profits.
