Posting as FYI for people who charge for insurance vs that thang called cookie jar.
I just had a sale slightly over 100. I was given the option to purchase additional insurance at my discretion. If item is under 100 the insurance is based on selling price using eBay Labels. (With CP directly it is up to 100). Not automatically 100.00. The rate per 100.00 according to ebay labels is $3.11. (GST/HST is included in the total due to shipment going to Ontario. 13%)
Checking with the CP calculator the rate is 2.75 per 100.oo.
Note: With regular parcel the first 100.00 is NOT free.
Note: Tax and Fuel surcharges are clearly defined with the CP display because tax is based on the final total. Not piecemeal.
Note 2. Additional insurance using ebay labels is 4.46 with Fedex/4.52 with UPS.
CP Disclaimer regarding taxes on postal products.

I have declined a bunch of additional insurance recently, usually on 120.00 sales and the 3.00 isnt worth it lol
Has anyone had an insurance claim using ebay labels? was it easy or ? Aka does the cheque come to you?
I have gotten a few claims before I used ebay labels and got the money back (with my own account)

I had one lost package and one late package that I claimed (both were Canada Post purchased through eBay labels. I also had one denied. I filed the claims directly with Canada Post and they mailed the cheques to me. You don't get the full amount back since eBay does appear to upcharge slightly.
