The revised import charges are an estimate based on what I believe is a worst case scenario of 15% HST being applied to the item.

According to another member who posted here a little while ago with concerns similar to yours, if your item is being shipped to a province that charges GST, rather than HST, the import charges will be revised yet again when your shipping address is confirmed at Checkout.

Re: Raising import on a offer.

While duty is consistent across Canada, sales taxes vary from 5% to 15%.  Until you actually buy, the bots don't know how much sales tax there will be.

Most import charges have very little or no duty. Canada has Free Trade agreements with dozens of countries.

But there is always sales tax.

There is also a ~$5US service fee with the Global Shipping Program.
