Returns US buyer - back to Canada: Should buyer purchase return shipping from Ebay? Cost?

I use PirateShip for my non-ebay returns.

I haven't had a return for last 2 or 3 years (knock on wood) so wondering if things changed with returns.

Does ebay require the buyer to use Ebay own provided return labels (as it is in case of Amazon) or can the buyer use the labels provided by the seller.

I sold heavy items and I am concerned about shipping them back to Canada. I don't want to annoy the buyer with checking the ebay rates and getting back to me first before I decide what to do on my side.

However, I am concerned the Ebay return shipping labels would be over-priced, because why not, right?

Or does Ebay US shipping rates to Canada match the standard USPS rates offered by PirateShip, meaning the rates are best they can be.

The return item weight is a few kilogram so I am trying to figure out the least costly way to return it back to Canada and I wonder if should leave the buyer use the Ebay return labels or not.

I don't know if it matters - my account is ebay.com (not ebay.ca). I am Canadian seller and buyer is in the US.

Thanks.

You sold a thing.

The buyer wants to return it for a refund.

Is this a Dispute / Not As Described?

Use the eBay system. Better to pay a bit more and keep all the information on one site.

If you do not send /pay for return shipping, eBay will and charge you for them.

Is this a Buyer Remorse Return?

The Buyer pays for return shipping.

Are we talking about a one percent difference or a 30% difference?

Are we talking one percent of the value of the item or 30% of the value?

There are no returns available through ebay for international transactions. Actually, as far as I know there are no return labels available through ebay even when both buyer and seller are in Canada.  Even if a return label was available, the buyer isn't required to use it. You can send them a label from Pirateship.

Both ebay and Pirateship use usps commercial pricing. Pirateship does have cubic shipping which ebay does not. I believe that Pirateship also has a slightly different international service available but I'm not sure what it is...it might be Ascendia.

Thanks. That helps.

Yes they do have PirateShip Simple Export rate, not available at Ebay, I believe it's a USPS deal.

Item not as described. Nowadays only newbies on Ebay don't know to (ab)use the NAD option. I sold the item with exact measurements and put the measurements on the picutures and in description. The buyer wants to return because the size doesn't fit. What else to say.

It's not even whether blue is blue. I had a buyer arguing that one few years ago too.

It's okay. It's the funny part about selling.

You can easily generate all your return labels in PirateShip and then message to buyer. Can you return to a US address? I have a CDN & US address on eBay.ca and I've printed labels through Pirate Ship to the US address for my US return requests. For my small items it's usually around $4US instead of some ridiculous amount like $20+ to Canada.

Yes, for Pirateship you can generate label from US address to your Canadian home address.   I found also Stallion offers return shipping. For items up to 2-3lbs it's better with Pirateship because it arrives by mail to your mailbox. For heavier items Pirateship becomes more costly and it's better to use Stallion return labels and then pick up at their warehouse. (Assuming seller lives in an area close to where Stallion is).

Re: Returns US buyer - back to Canada: Should buyer purchase return shipping from Ebay? Cost?

Anybody knows if Stamps DOT com allows me to create label from US back to Canada and be able to use my Canadian credit card?

Pirateship allows that and that's what I do as mentioned earlier.  Stamps is the service used by one of my software apps so I wonder if I could use Stamps instead of PirateShip.

I like Pirateship website though, the shipping quote tool on their website is the best I have seen so far.

stamps.com FAQ mentions a monthly fee of $17.99 and it seems like you need an American address.
