Everything I am hearing is an abrupt swing towards sellers. Hard to believe everything I am hearing, but, it is all from the to dogs.
eBay is treating us right. They are making sure that the convention attendees leave with no complaints.
Had a par-TEE last night. Everyone has a story. My heavens we were bad for a group of 60 yr olds.
General convention stuff all afternoon today, meetings all day Friday. Maybe 1500 of us.
eBay threw us a party today. First off we got $100 gift cards, I paid $65 to be here. Two live bands, excellent food, free bar. They are treating us very well. We got the "clap in" into the ballroom.
The "clap-in" is where they bring hundreds of employees in to form a chute we walk through. They cheer, hoot, and clap, for us. It is one hell of a morale booster. I first experienced this in Las Vegas in '06. We were all talking about it after.
Friday we get breakfast, lunch, and a cocktail party at 4:30.
We are being treated very well.

I was wondering if we would hear from you. Keep us posted!
We're not a happy bunch here with the Fall Seller update .... particularly the on-time delivery standard.

They should have invited Canada Post to the bash and broke the news to them that sellers can " truly control" them. I bet they are not aware of that. The Fall update wants buyer to be judged on things they can "truly control" which apparently is delivery times by Canada post, U.S customs and USPS!
From the horses mouth. "The new on-time shipping metric holds you accountable for what you can truly control"

"This is a great experience."
You are living the "American dream!" Good for you. Enjoy.
In the meantime, back in Canada, those of us shipping without tracking face a nightmare with the new default policy based exclusively on Canada Post standards.
The only suggestion I have read so far from eBay is to LIE in our listing by knowingly giving misleading information. That's right. eBay suggests we tell our buyers we will take five day "handling time" instead of one to minimize the problem they created with their new default policy.
Can you believe that? eBay suggesting we knowingly provide misleading information in our listing!
That is their solution!
In the meantime, enjoy your party. Have a double scotch on me!

Hey mr.E, nice to hear you're having a good time. Thanks for the update.
Just got back from out west and passed a sign that said Dauphin 10 kms. First time I thought about eBay the whole trip.
OMG, why didn't someone warn me about those Saskatchewan roads!!
Have fun!

Did we get an answer as to how padding the handling time will impact us in searches and wasn't one day handling time required to achieve TRS? I know they are not going to back down from this update so I really hope to get some clear answers. It wasn't that long ago that we were presented with what we know now as the "new defect rate". We were sold on how that would benefit the good sellers yada, yada yada. We all jumped on board trying to prevent unfair defects when a customer simply wanted to ask a question but ended up clicking on the wrong button and ebay stuck us with a defect. Now, ebay changes all of that again and gives us the worst possible news as a Canadian seller, that you will be judged almost solely on shipping, something you can "truly control". We are told it will be "fantastic" for those who ship with tracking knowing full well that most of us can't.
I ship in one day, always, I correspond with my buyers always, I package my items with care, always, and then my part is done, or so I thought. I don't think that Canada post is horrible, even though I can't use tracking, as most of my packages reach their destination like they should but the part that is really going to mess with us all is that most U.S buyers still think that my packages take a long time to get there. Now presented with a question that they may choose to answer 1,2,3 weeks after they receive their item about whether it arrived in a specific time, opens the door for them to think back and say..."hmmm, oh that item, yes that took a long time to get to me", not remembering, realizing or caring that it was an international shipment.
When I buy an item on ebay, which is very rare these days due to GSP, I don't run to my computer eagerly to leave feedback. I always leave feedback, but it may be several days after. I cannot remember the exact date I received the item. Because I'm also a seller I understand the implication to a seller of clicking "no" it did not arrive at given time but the average buyer doesn't and will simply click 'no" if they recall it took a long time. I guarantee it! Over the years ebay has shifted most of the control to the buyer, I'm okay with that for the most part as I'm a good honest seller and play by the rules but with this update, that becomes almost irrelevant which is completely unfair. Ebay has always been just a hobby, unloading household items etc which was how this site was marketed years ago, a site that I had refereed to friends and family over the past 10 years and helped many get set to sell. There is no way that a new seller today could possibly navigate through all of these hoops and requirements and I think that is sad.

It sounds like a great convention from what you describe. American sellers will probably by and large be extremely happy with this fall's Seller Update, but the rest of us here in Canada may be wondering if we still have a future on eBay.
Even if we can survive shipping to the U.S. based on the new rules, this Update pretty much puts the kibosh on international sales. Who can afford overseas tracking? Ah-ha! Americans, using the GSP. More money for Pitney-Bowes, more for eBay. It's a racket.
I don't mean to spoil your party, you should enjoy it while it lasts. You might want to consider moving across the border when you get back.

I forgot about the international (overseas) sales rose-dee. Now I'm depressed. 😩
