Sending a Used iPhone to the USA for the first time - anything I should be aware of?

I'm selling my used iPhone 6 to a buyer in the USA. I'm a bit nervous as this is my first time sending something (especially an iPhone) outside of Canada.

Is there anything I need to keep in mind before sending it off? These questions are probably  stupid...but

What would I mark the reason for export as on the customs form? Gift or Sale? Is the declared value exactly what the seller paid for it?

Thanks in advance for your answers and reply 🙂

Thanks @zee-chan-jpn-books - I misread the original post!

Re: Sending a Used iPhone to the USA for the first time - anything I should be aware of?

My apologies, I didn't mean to mislead you with the bit about Unpaid Item, that's just the first part of the Report a Buyer flow. (I could have cropped it out of the screenshot but I wanted to give you an accurate view of the page.) As others have mentioned, once you initiate a Cancellation, the seller loses the ability to open an Unpaid item case since that transaction is already in the process of being cancelled.

As to the effect of an online Report a Buyer, I can assure you it does about as little as chucking pebbles at a passing train.

It's not as if the other member's account is immediately suspended, far from it. It takes some magical (confidential) number of reports from another magical (confidential) number of different users before that in itself flags the attention of a person who might then review the user behaviour to see what problem may exist. At that point, ebay may decide to step in and offer re-education to the other user. Like support on understanding actual policies and at worst a stern warning.

If you want satisfaction, you need to call Customer Service and hope for the best.

I do, however,  believe you have grounds to get the negative feedback removed based on your account of what transpired.

@momcqueen I can't thank you enough for your help and advice 🙂

I don't think I'll bother to report the buyer... I did request a revision of the feedback, but I didn't get anywhere with the buyer (not surprised though lol)

Hopefully Customer Service might be able to assist and hopefully agree with you that I may have a case to have the negative feedback removed 🙂

The Weekly Chat with tyler who is an employee of ebay is open right now at https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Weekly-Chat-Session/January-24th-2018-Weekly-Session/m-p/392389#M6325 and you could ask him for advice or assistance directly as well.

Thanks for the tag @momcqueen!

Hi @clee_1848 - sorry to hear that this transaction didn't go quite as you intended. In the event that a buyer is having trouble making payment I'd recommend encouraging them to reach out to Customer Support, as there may be issues on their account preventing them from paying you. And ultimately we all want to get paid, right? 😉

When it comes to the negative feedback you can definitely contact CS for a manual review. If you cancel a transaction at the request of the buyer and we have clear documentation of that in the messages it should be something that can be appealed, particularly as this feedback simply states that the order was cancelled.

However, if a cancellation was suggested by a seller and never clearly agreed to by the buyer in messages it may be more difficult to appeal particularly if a buyer is then confused by the action that was taken. Thanks!

Tyler,
eBay

Actually, it’s $850 CAD where Signature Confirmation is required for Seller Protection by PayPal as opposed to the $825 I’ve quoted.
