Hey guys!
I have been selling on eBay full time for the past 5 years and have not taken any vacations yet.
I would like to take 1 week off in Dominican Republic in an all-included hotel.
I'll add 7 days to my delivery time to all my listings.
I'll make sure the hotel has great wireless internet so I can check and reply to message everyday.
I'll have my neighbor feed my cat and put any packages in my garage.
Those who've done it, are there any other thing I should think about regarding my eBay business to avoid stress and problems?

I see that you have a store. You can put it on vacation. You also have the option to hide your listings or not.

If possible at all I'd rather not lose 1 full week of sales.
I thought I could simply add 5 days to my handling time and answer to my inbox once per day.
Do you think this may cause any issues?

If you can't ship promptly, you may regret those sales.
You could send an email to your regular buyers, letting them know you will be away.
But seriously, there is no point in having your store open if you can't ship.
There is no point in having your store On Vacation if your customers can't buy.
I was just responding to a poster who is panicked because her purchase hasn't arrived by the 22nd when the estimated delivery is the 25th. (There is a little more to it than that of course.)
Once again it comes down to-- BUYERS DON'T READ.
Also pya/cya.

When I had a store and was on vacation, I put the store "on vacation", but with listings still visible. That way, buyers see a message on top of each listing saying you are away until X date and there may be some delay in processing their order. It could work for you too if you don't want to loose sales.

Put your store on Vacation mode, but for 5 first days. You can ship ASAP upon return and it will be only 2 days for handling. There is also an option to "Keep people from buying your fixed price listings while you're on vacation" they can see it, but will be unable to pay.
Otherwise you may regret it.

I know others who often do what you want to do..leave their store open and extend the handling time. I always hide my listings if I’m away more than 3 or 4 days but I don’t think there is an absolute right or wrong way to do it.

I had vacation in Bahia Luxury resort in DR
Had frequent problems with Internet connections on my iPad and even when was allowed a couple times to use their office desk computer.
Was very happy with my vacation settings during this time and strongly recommend to do the same.
One more advise: it takes about 24 hours to restore listings when vacation ends, so do your estimation for proper time to stop vacation on the system.

I do this all the time. Put my store on vacation mode, listings visible and change my handling time. As I go for more than a week, I usually use 10 days and once used 15 days. It worked like a charm. Sales continued, no issue. I also had very little internet service as I was on cruises. I would not shut down sales for a 2 week cruise.
