I just had a non-receipt case opened against me by a buyer in the US

The item in transit is still within the delivery standards of the service used.

The buyer has informed PayPal that their address was incorrect.

If I get a defect from this, I'm going to lose my lid!

This should not be allowed to happen.

Aren't Buyers required to actually validate the shipping address is correct before completing the payment?

I would be inclined to report the Buyer to ebay.

This should not be allowed to happen.

The procedure now is that the buyer must have the address... the Primary Mailing Address ...  indicated on eBay... and that becomes the same address on Paypal.

The buyer  cannot change to address on Paypal... which is linked to the Primary Mailing Address on eBay.

Buyer provided an invalid address on eBay... and must catch the parcel at its destination...

Buyer is at fault....Period.....

So there is no longer an opportunity to change the destination at all, not even to a Gift Address?

This should not be allowed to happen.

Go to your Account TAB upper left corner of My eBay page... and click on Addresses.

Add as many addresses as required...

Then click on ... Make Primary... to the right of the appropriate address..

This address is your address for a specific purchase.....

and then the Paypal link puts this as the address on Paypal for this transaction.... The address cannot be changed on Paypal.

The Sales Record page also will show this Primary Mailing Address...

Case closed yesterday in buyers favor!

Reason: I failed to respond???!!!

I was in PayPal DAILY, watching the case page and I had responded with a message right off the bat...

I watched it go through the process of "Message sent to buyer, awaiting response" then "Being reviewed by PayPal"

Then the "reason" they give is that I FAILED to respond. Why, because I didn't give them a refund for their screw up??!!

I was waiting for PayPal to see the wisdom of the situation or maybe let me know they'd give time for the item to possibly come back to me.

But I know I'm screwed on this one because....no tracking, right? But for crying out loud the buyer didn't provide the proper address and this still comes back around on me!!

I suppose this is now a defect on me....worth a call to a supervisor?

Good luck on that ... I have given up on calling ebay and i think that is what they want anyways otherwise they would have someone on the other line who knew what they were talking about .. I have 1 time in lets say 30 calls things go good with a rep who knew there stuff otherwise just pointless if you ask me ..

some have fought an won but i would rather burn a $5 bill then waste another second of my life talking to someone who barely understands english and doesn't even come close to understanding ebay ...

It's almost like the Board workers should be the people on the phone atleast they know there stuff .. I mean  Rodney and ralph etc...

I tried to get some defects off my account but they did not even understand what i was talking about .. I directed them towards the boards to see the topic I was talking about and how it has been discussed they still din't get it ...

I send email to I think Rodney or Ralph can't remember and no response as of now which is about a week sooooo I am given up but if you have luck please let me know maybe i will fight the good fight one more time ...

Goodluck Steve

Called PayPal....got my money back!

The phone rep admitted PayPal botched this case and there will be no defect against me.

All is well. Well except for the fact PayPal screwed up and it took a phone call for me to get my money back...

I got one buyer in Australia still claiming that they never received the package even the tracking information (yes I upgraded the mail service to the one with tracking number on my "not feeling comfortable" guts and thanks God for that!) showed it arrived there as "delivered successfully".

This buyer paid and I shipped it the next day and then 3 days later I got their message saying that they wrote the wrong Unit # and I told them I shipped to the address that PayPal provided, and that the package is always out somewhere.  The tracking information showed it had arrived there but they still insisted that they never get it and opened the claim for item not received it with eBay and eBay had to put it on hold when I escalated it.

What worse about this buyer, she/he never respond to anything, not even my email about 5 times, etc.  Finally when eBay closed it in my favor, I finally got email from them with threats!

I decided to call PayPal asking the address is correct and they told me that it is correct and has been the same for 6 years, this buyer never make any corrections even she/he claimed she wrote the wrong Unit #!  It also included 2 not working phone numbers which I tried but no luck.  I did checked the phone number for their post office, it is working number, apparently this buyer gave the not working phone numbers to eBay and PayPal.  Clearly a scammer!!  Pity that I cannot leave feedback to this buyer so that the other sellers would be aware of this scammer!!  In case you are wondering who is this buyer, they are collectors of David Bowie, so watch out when you get any buyers in Australia for David Bowie.

I was told by eBay that the defect has been removed from my account.
