Hello, hoping someone here knows the answer to this issue because the folks at ebay have no idea.

I have called them multiple times, been assured by employee that they would get it solved and they would enter a service ticket.....don't know if they are just flat out lying to me or just listen to get you off their back but they haven't fixed anything at all....going on for a year now !

Here is the issue, try to revise a variation listing, sometimes just to update stock or shipping charges, but receive error message "player name is not allowed as a variation specific"

Some of these listings are up to 5 years old and run continously. I have revised them many times in the past. All of the sudden they can't be revised.

My last phone call to ebay help 2 weeks ago was the same as always, the person sounded very interested & concerned but in the end they did nothing. No fix, no reply or update, just the same old **bleep**.

Only way to fix that I know of is to go in and modify the category name for every single variation, as many as 250 per listing.

It's very likely connected to recent changes for variation listings that is causing your error. See attached. (Condition notes)

Hi @hockey-kong! I think this may differ from the variation change lotzofuniquegoodies is talking about as that's just for condition/grades in multi-variation listings. We're eliminating the ability to have the condition or item grade be a variation on MSKU listings. Those sellers needing to make updates were contacted via email.

If you don't mind following up with a few things, I can get a ticket started with the tech team to see if we can figure out what is going on:

Trouble shooting you've done ( clearing cache/cookies, different browsers you've tried, etc.):

You could also try the eBay employees assigned to social media desks.

The phone reps work for a subcontractor somewhere in Utah and are not very reliable.

Also the eBay reps give you a transcript of your 'conversation' (which is written and can be slow, but at least the rep has a chance to think about what they are going to advise.)

Here is the error message verbatim,

It looks like there's a problem with this listing. Card Number is not allowed as a variation specific.

A few Item #'s that don't allow revisions due to this issue, 203470317096, 203470880042

I always list from my laptop only, have listed and received this error in Edge, Chrome and Firefox which makes me think it's an ebay bug of some sort.

Some of the ebay help people have had me clear my cache and a few other things I don't remember but if you have any ideas, I'll make the time.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! So you're saying you never used the condition as a variation? You're also saying when you try to reclassify the condition there are no excellent, very good, and good options?

If you don't mind sending along a few item numbers and a screen shot of what you see for the condition options when you try to revise one of them, I'll see what I can find out.

The condition is noted as part of the original information in the listing but not as a column in the variation area. All items in a listing would be under a "identical" condition.
