What happens if international buyer do not pay taxes and fees ?

I hardly sell to international but sometimes do buyers buy from Canada and England.

I am roll in ebay global shipping thing.

i sold one item to Canada Buyer for $199 plus shipping...but it go through ebay shipping center first...I shipped Priority Mail even thought I charged only $6.00 for shipping.

that is the address I received from ebay to ship and the ebay take care of the rest...

ebay shipped vis DHL and tracking says ebay global shipping center shipped to buyer and now it says

waiting for buyer to pay taxes and duty fees....for 4 days now...

ebay shipped DHL...I didn't and I have no control over oversea sales and ebay handles all.

I do not know how much they are charging ..must be expensive..🙄

what happens if buyer never pays fees and don't pick it up or not deliver to buyer?

is item comes back to me? And do I refund?

or ebay handles all?

sorry...first time this has happened so I don't know.

thank you.

First iff, everything you describe is perfectly normal so far. eBay does not collect tax for Canadian orders as they do for the EU etc. Some of the the things that ship via EIS to Canada have the taxes added, others are sent withoiut and taxes are collected as they would for any inbound shipment.

Usually when a shipment arrives with tax due the buyer gets a notice and has to go to the local post office to pay and collect the package. It can take a few days for buyers to do that especially if you have a 9-5 job.

In any event, when shipped via EIS if it is unclaimed it will get returned to EIS, they will liquidate the item, it doesn't go back to you and you keep your money. This is the one really good thing about EIS, you never have to deal with any issues after it arrives at the depot.

Just to add to @recped's excellent post, there are terms and conditions for sellers who use eBay International Shipping, @mybabylily.  It would be a good idea to skim through them and pay close attention to the aspects of the program that affect your sales, such as the sections on eligibility; lost, damaged, or undeliverable items; and returns.  Many sellers don't seem to be aware of these aspects and while they won't get into trouble for not knowing or understanding them, the lack of knowledge or understanding can lead to unhappy buyers.

I suspect the seller won't find their way back to the .ca boards again. They have posted on the US boards a couple of times so will probably think they posted there again.

I was thinking that, too, but I didn’t have time to check in their activity on the .com
boards. I was hoping that tagging them would at least trigger an email notification that someone had mentioned them here.

@mybabylily

Your responsibility for delivery ended when your shipment arrived at the eIS plant.

If the customer does not pay DHL the import fees (which will include DHL's fees), the shipment will be returned to eIS.

Not to you.

EIS will sell the shipment, along with thousands of other incomplete deliveries, to a liquidator.

You are not affected.

You keep the money.

You have Seller Protection when you ship with eIS.

Also.

If you had not used eIS and the buyer had refused delivery, you would still not owe the buyer anything, according to eBay.

However, in that case the buyer might be able to do a chargeback through his credit card.

You are fine.

The buyer has "cut off his nose to spite his face".
