What the (US) buyer sees-- internet sales tax related.

@ms.havisham  has screenshots of the checkout and shopping cart  billing on this thread,

As a technodolt, I am unable to move these.

Perhaps someone who has better skills than me could upload them to eBay Canada?

I think it would be useful.

That would be very interesting to see, I have wondered just what the buyer sees. For me it looks as if I am paying tax, but I understand that is not correct.

I won't try to repost those pics but I can say that since I shop online from a wide variety of site the way eBay displays shipping is way more transparent than most and the way they display sales tax to buyers is equal to or better than other sites.

Most sites barely mention shipping charges on the item page, only a few even mention sales tax until you get to checkout.

The only reason this is any issue at all on eBay is that eBay buyers are in the "rare to pay tax on eBay" mode. Buyers who shop on online a lot have been paying sales taxes long before Marketplace Facilitator laws came in.  Amazon, Target, Wal-mart all charged taxes because of the nexus rules, the former because they have warehouses in almost every state, the latter two have retail locations.
