Because it was not a successful promotion in Canada.
In other words, the cost to eBay of running the promotion did not generate the extra revenues eBay expected.

"Because it was not a successful promotion in Canada"
I'm sorry Pierre, but nobody knows the real reason. That sentence is just speculation since eBay won't give a specific and official reason 😞

"eBay won't give a specific and official reason"
Actually they did. It may not be what you want to hear but the eBay Bucks promotion did not meet their expectations in Canada. End of story.
Do not expect eBay Inc, a public company, to ever give you more information than that. They legally cannot do it.

Well, I liked the ebay bucks promotion. It was a nice occasional perk amongst the sludge of B.S. policies that ebay is famous for. Too bad, it seemed like the beginnings of a neat loyalty program.

"a neat loyalty program"
Staples, the office supplies store, also had a loyalty program for years. It was nice to get a small percentage of purchases refunded every three months.
That loyalty program is now gone in Canada. The program simply did not generate the extra revenue needed to offset the costs and generate a profit. I do not know if a similar program still runs in the USA.
Staples in Canada now offers "AirMiles", a much cheaper program for them.

Actually I think is that what eBay didn't "expect" that we would earn eBucks way more than they expected and they cannot afford to redeem us! So they have to end the eBucks for Canada. As if.

So you think that 30 million or so Canadians redeemed more ebay bucks than the 300 million or so Americans?

Hello: AliExprees.com
Amazon
DxExtreme
GoodLuckBuy
DinoDirect.
These sites they will shower with coupon and reward point. The best part is there price is lot cheaper than item listed on eBay.
Ebay.ca You guy make a huge mistake by cancel eBuck in Canada. All Canadian are paying through the nose shipping rate for item from US, and why didn't you cancel eBuck in US?
"Closing the program in Canada was a difficult decision"
We are sick and tire of being treated like an idiot! No difficult decision at all, just pure greed!
As soon as I use up my eBuck, I will cancel my account accordingly!
Good Bye eBay.ca!

"Any more thoughts on this??? "
Do not waste your time. eBay made the decision to stop the reward program as it cost them money. End of story.
It is not a matter of being right or wrong. It is their money and their decision not to waste it on a program did not generate more revenue for them.
Whether they cancel the program elsewhere is their decision based on the results of the program elsewhere. If they waste money on eBay.com, expect them to cancel the program there too.

It's totally useless in my case. I never fly anywhere.
I redeemed my last eBay Bucks yesterday. It was over $20.00, which may seem like next to nothing to some people, but it helps me out.

Sorry, I messed up the quote tags. The above was said by me, not pierrelebel.
