Why does the ebay site not adjust numbers of items available when relisting?

Why does the ebay site not adjust numbers of items available when relisting?   If I have 10 of an item for ale, and sell four of them, why can't the ebay system automatically adjust my figure available to 6 when I relist?  Instead, it will reset it to 10 and I have to manually adjust it, and if I miss an item I can oversell it.   Seems like an easy computer fix somewhere.....

If you list using GTC (Good Till Cancelled) duration eBay automatically adjust the renewed quantity - every 30 days - to account for your sales.

If you relist using the relist function for a listing ended after 30 days, eBay relists exactly the quantity from the original listing.

This is why most sellers selling multiple quantities in a listing use GTC for those listings.

Sadly over the years I have found that the only way I get a profit margin is listing during the periodic free listings period, so I will not be taking advantage of the GTC function.  Just thought that there was a way they could automatically adjust under the relist function.  Guess the system is just too clunky for that.

For what it's worth, I found GTC to be poor at tracking inventory.

I had a couple sales requiring refunds and awkward explanations because the revised number did not roll forward as it should have.

Having said that, an eBay friends uses GTC and has no such problems.

You may want to report that specific problem to eBay for them to look into it.

I have used GTC since 2000 when the duration was created without a single problem as far as quantity being properly deducted.

Same thing here (since 2007), although nowhere near your volume.  Still, it's been completely reliable for me.
