eBay please fix this MAJOR oversight in return shipping

Been an eBay member for 10+ years, and have been actively selling one or two items a day for the last 3 years.

I typically dont offer free returns on my listings, and thankfully I've had very minimal instances where a return is requested, but this time I screwed up. I shipped the buyer the wrong item, and now I want to provide him a shipping label to return the item to me. Simple enough I thought, but I just spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to do this and I am stumped. After reading posts that go years back it doesnt sound like eBay is making any attempt to fix this.

So now this puts the burden on the buyer to pay for a label. This is not good for business, and if eBay wants to compete with Amazon, then they really need to focus on making the return process as seamless as possible.

If the item is not as described the burden is on the seller to provide a label OR for them to provide the money fir the buyer to buy a label. Depending where the buyer is, you may be able to buy a return label on Shippo...save the label as a PDF and email it to the buyer.  If the buyer is in Canada you could also do that online at Canada’s Post Snapship.

Or,  find out what the postage will be and send the money via PayPal.

It is definitely more difficult in Canada to arrange for a return label because there is not a platform directly on eBay to print Labels originating in Canada.  They are working on such a platform and hopefully it will include a system for return labels.

I've never done one myself, but I've heard some people say you can do the US ones on Shippo?

I thought it was easy for Canadian buyers? Just generate a label in CP Snapship and upload the PDF to the case/dispute?

I haven’t done one for a US buyer in Shippo either but it apparently is doable.
I’m sure that it is easy enough in Snapship to do a return label ( and probably in Shippo too) and send it as a PDF to a Canadian buyer but in both cases we have to pay for the  label immediately.

In a US seller / US buyer return the label is either automatically sent or else the seller clicks on one link to send it and the buyer just has to print it. The seller doesn’t pay for the label until it is scanned by the post office.  That system is definitely easier and more intuitive than how we have to do it.
