sale canceled by ebay

Just got this lovely notice tonight

Hello treasurrectionist,

We had to cancel bids for the buyer, (they had feedback of more than 200+ purchases) because they aren't registered on eBay:??????????????????
283923626895 - Vintage BLACK Nikon F SPORTS FINDER super clean with case & caps

So not only did you remove the listing, BUT also any record of the sale. 4 days later you do this.

Great to know, WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE USEFUL prior to item being shipped.

JUST HOW IN THE are they allowed to bid if not registered ???????????????????

Ebay you  you need to cover this item loss.

Re: sale canceled by ebay

did you receive payment, and if so i assume you have sent the item..  if you have proof of shipment, and delivery then paypal will cover you.. or at least they should..  I don't want to guess but, it sounds like a compromised account, or excessive charge backs,.. let us know what you find out..

Re: sale canceled by ebay

The Buyer would have become NARU after the end of the auction.

eBay has a really bad method of dealing with NARU -- the burn everything to the ground approach and then bury it.

Did eBay cancel the payment as well?

Re: sale canceled by ebay

I don't think eBay can touch the money since it was handled exclusively by Paypal, a different company.

If the money was paid and the item is sent, too late. The seller is protected a little bit by Paypal, but is still in danger of a chargeback or an Item Not Recieved dispute through PP.

If the item has not been sent, it is probably best to return the payment, cancelling as Problem with Address.

Ah, but when?

An active buyer may move on, without actually closing her account, which takes time in any case.

The a year or so down the road a hacker finds the abandoned account and starts using it.

The feedback looks good, but is very old (not helped by eBay removing dates from FB) or is for very different products. Or is exclusively buying when the account is now selling.
