Re: sellers how do you feel about ebay managed payments love to hear your thoughts

I noticed two things lately that I suspect are linked to Managed Payments and I like neither.

As a buyer, I cannot use Guest Checkout anymore. My choices are to create an account, or use an existing account whether it's ebay, facebook, google etc.

As a seller, I can't send an invoice to someone (regardless of whether local or international) who says they intend to use Local Pickup or Cash on Pickup as their method of payment. Obviously, a guy in Italy who buys $375 in items isn't coming to my doorstep to pickup for cash. Yet ebay neither prevents that or allows me to combine invoice or send invoice or anything. It will let me send a reminder for one item at a time which doesn't quite achieve what I need it to do.

Does it matter? Our choice is, as usually with ebay, to like it or lump it.

Regardless of the rhetoric, I don't expect to save money on fees or suddenly face an onslaught of new buyers who were waiting with bated breath to use Apple Pay before buying what I'm selling, it's all just spin to make a change no seller is bound to like more palatable.

In short, it doesn't matter how sellers feel about it because the ebay corporate entity knows full well that inertia will prevent most sellers from migrating elsewhere in a fit of pique unless the change were drastic than a few pennies here or there. The amount of time it would take me to do the math would be overshadowed by any three pennies I might save or pay extra with Managed Payments.

I'm certain ebay gives zero hoots how we feel about it as sellers. It's happening.

I am current registered and enrolled, meaning eBay is now managing my payments. So far, the switch has been a little rough but not that bad. Issuing refunds on orders placed before MP is an issue, as the "view PayPal transaction" button is broken. It redirects to an error page. Not a big deal though, just need to search in PayPal for the order. Otherwise, the fee breakdown once you make a sale is really confusing, but this was never clear before anyway. Overall, it's gone as smoothly as I would have thought, given the lack of information provided beforehand.

Perhaps we should go back in time and view how Paypal was introduced to the sellers on eBay.

Paypal started on eBay and changed over the years that followed.

We as sellers followed the changes and accepted the changes as they were introduced over the years.

Managed Payments is the replacement for Paypal, and Managed Payments will make adjustments...  as the years pass.

Managed Payments will make adjustments that sellers ....will require....

We shall communicate in an effective manner...

My store has been on vacation since May 16, in response to the COVID-19 situation.

It is my plan to take the store off vacation once the conversion to Managed Payments has been completed.  Sales will be to Canadians only....  The US is one big mess....

70 % of sales have been to Canadian buyers, and sometimes a bit higher.

I am ready for Managed Payments ... and... I am ready to .... Make it Happen.

One thing I am looking forward to on MP is the fee refunds. (this is assuming that eBay will credit the 2.7% back). I just had someone accept an offer that I sent, pay, and then cancel a minute later. This leaves me on the hook for the Paypal fee and its so frustrating, what a ridiculous policy.
