I recently sold an item to a buyer in Korea. His profile says his location is United States. Is this something I should be worried about?

A lot of folks have a USA mailing address, including Canadians.

May be : maybe not.

A lot of Asian buyers use trans-shipment firms in the USA to receive their purchases, repack them and send them on.

I think this is because so many US sellers are paranoid about selling to “furriners”. Another thought is that the trans-shippers are smart enough to use Air Mail rather than the apparently cheaper Surface.

Most of the buyers are from Japan or South Korea.

So it is not unusual. There is nothing wrong with politely asking the buyer if this is what is happening. You could even use Google Translate to ask in Korean. (But do leave the English in there too. And watch your spelling.)

His mailing address was in Korea. His ebay profile claims he is in the US.

I do not get your concern. If yer mailing it to his mailing address, what do you care?

Maybe he's there for work. But the only way to find out is to ask the buyer. And if you decide to ship there, charge appropriate shipping costs (Air Mail not Surface).
