A seller said they would cancel any bids made without their approval. Is this allowed?

So I went saw an add from a seller selling iphones for Wholesale prices, but they said that anybody who made a bid that was not approved by them would immediately have their bid removed, even if they were the highest bidder. Is this allowed? I was under the impression that anybody who made a bid, and won a bid, had the right to keep their bid, and did not first have to contact the seller outside of eBay to gain their approval.

Honestly, I wouldn't trust anybody selling wholesale iPhone 5s on ebay.

Not a trustworthy seller -- either the phones are non-existent or are actually clones. Move along. This is not a product available at retail for "wholesale " prices.

You do know that "wholesale" refers to block purchases of large numbers of a single item, often with tax breaks, for resale at retail.? If the seller is not demanding your resale tax numbers (HST/PST/GST) you are paying full retail.

However, yep. Any seller can cancel any bid for any reason she wants. This is meant as a protection for the seller, who can also put automatic Blocks on bids from members with Unpaid Item Strikes, no Paypal account, or from chosed countries. She can also Block sales to bidders who do not pay immediately on Fixed Price listings.

Blocked Bidder Lists are awash with IDs that are obscene, threatening, or attached to strange questions to the seller or posted on Boards.

Sellers may also decide to cancel bids and Block bidders who have left a lot of negative or nasty feedback.
