Good Evening.

Currently there are approximately 14 million listings on Ebay.

Currently there are approximately 7.5 million listings on other auction sites that are .not Ebay

Interesting, ain't it?

Some administrators of other sites are reporting a "flood" of Ebay refugees arriving to register this week.

Ebay, you are king of the hill when it comes to online auctions. Well you are today anyway.

G'night

On another topic, you've been on Ebay longer than me right, sold thousands of things on Ebay over the years, wrote some books etc.

Why are my DSR scores better than yours? I mean if y9ou are so wise and I'm not. How come my customers are happier than yours?? Just curious.

And as predicted...The report button got a workout. Way to go Bill!!

Only if you self reported. :^O

I think the media also heavily covered Geraldo Rivera's opening of Al Capone's vault. We all know what a bust that turned out to be. ROFLMAO

Last week's count at 11 AM was approx 12.8 million. Today at 11 AM it is at 13.8 million. Yes indeedy...what a bus wreck!

Ebays numbers are worse year over year than this time last year. It isn't a growing company. It's stalled and fading.

Anyway, I'm going to get busy packing for another auction sale I'm putting stuff in a sale locally next week. We sold everything again yesterday that we brought, and at a good profit too. I love seeing things I picked up for a buck or two at garage sales sell for 15-20 dollars at the local auction house. Yes I pay a fee for it, but so far this month, those fees are running 1/3 of the cost of selling on Ebay. Also signed up for a booth at a local Antique market, whose fees are, by the way, 1/2 of what it used to cost on Ebay to sell. Overall my sales of collectables are Way Up this month, and my costs are way Down. And my Ebay invoice hasn't been this little since the first week I signed up 4 years ago.

Cheers Bill!!

Too much going on to hang here all day. I'll check in tonight for sure.

Why are people so concerned how many listings eBay has???

As long as mine are there I am happy. And, less listings means a greater percentage of buyers looking at mine.

Guys and gals, perusing statistics in regards to whether eBay listings are dropping or not serves no other purpose that to fuel the "I said so" i.e. ones ego.

Don't we have anything better to do with our time?

And I guess that includes me even taking the time to log in and read some of the drivel being posted. And then I'm stupid enough to reply ...:^O

Time for a break and I shall be back when the boards, again, have content that help me build my business, not disfranchise it.

OnlineAuction.com and Overstock.com both have reported in the media that they have seen over 1400 ebaY refugees sign up with them last week alone - so it is fair to say that the strike is having some boycott despite what Mr. Bill wants you to believe.

Who cares about how many ppl actually left the more important things is that the eBAY COMMUNITY for the most part DOES NOT AGREE with the new BS policies being ENFORCED upon us sellers.

EBAY chooses to IGNORE the ppl who help them generate their REVENUE and ontop of that they also have chosen to GIVE BUYERS complete control over a transaction they engage in with a SELLER. eBay claims that they will be tougher with difficult BUYERS but I can guarantee you that this will not be the case or very rarely will they infact to anything.

Time will tell, this year will definately be an interesting experience.

yup..probably...

...bottom line is ebay knows how disapointed their sellers are. and their reputation will take a hit. personally, i think a company's best defense is their reputation. sure, these few sellers that are boycotting certainly isn't going to affect ebay today-they're like a needle in a haystack right now, but i think overtime ebay will be seen as a 'not so sympathetic' company, who is very greedy. don't get me wrong, i know businesses' (sp?) main goal is to make money, but making money involves treating your people right. if you have one side that is totally disapointed and unmotivated, it will eventually show in the bottom dollar, maybe not today, but over time for sure...

just my opinion...

Monique - compared to what their sign-up rate has been prior to the strike - yes it does say something for them and NO there are NOT MILLIONS & MILLIONS of sellers on eBaY there are MILLIONS of BUYERS and quite alot of occassional sellers - but it all depends on ones definition of what a seller is.

Checkout the latest eBaY listing drops - looks like a 14% drop in active listing over 3days.

Most of the effects of the listing sale are now over (a few 10 day listings hanging around). Look at the numbers the day before the listings sale......current numbers are up by 300,000

I see no evidence of any high level of participation in a boycott.

Since Christmas the average number has been 12.3 - 12.6 million, if there was a 10% boycott participation then the number should be at 11.2 million.

Of course the raw listings number is less important than the sell through rate and average selling price.

To the DSR turf-war (proposed) by Tea_Past_Times:

To date, I have not seen a single poster on these forums who meets the MINIMUM required for a discount on eBay fees. Especially the people with a higher feedback rating (> 3000)... we all seem to be below 4.8 on at least one or two of our ratings.

Seems like a self-explaining stat to me. Is ANYBODY here able to beat 4.8 on all ratings?

I don't have a clue what happened during the strike with all of eBay, but my sales doubled. So, the strike most certainly helped me! Susan
