I have always thought it would be really neat to not only show how many people have looked at an auction, but also how many have put it on thier watch list. If you saw that there were 4 watcher other than yourself, wouldnt you feel more like clicking the BIN? I never thought that eBay had those statistics available, but now that it is right there in My ebay, I am wondering if there is a way to get that info and put it on my auction page.
Now clearly in the case where there was no watchers, it wouldn't help at all. But I am wondering in the case of certain auctions if it would be worthwhile to edit the auction, adding that info in, once there are more than say 2 people watching an item?
Anyone know how that could be done?

Why do they need to put it on another "watch"...unless they are as you say using another userid. But then, if they are under another userid, then the 2nd "watch" they put on an item would be considered a whole new "watch"....how can deleting one of those "watches" make a negative....they would have to delete both "watches"...which would have been considered 2 different watches from the start. no?
Mind still reelin' 😮

I havent spent 1/10th of a second to figure out why. There is tons of speculation on the US PS Board.
If it were my company that was producing the information, you wouldnt see it reading negatives because I would not release it until it worked.
By releasing something that gives false readings, there will be little confidence in the system once they do get it working because speculation was allowed to flourish in the beginning.
If buyers and sellers see the false readings, what purpose would it be to incorporate into your listings as no one will pay attention to it for fear that the 8 it reflects is realy 1 or maybe it is 100.

"why would it be considered 2 watchers from home and work?"
It wouldn't, unless they use a different eBay account, in which case it really is 2 watchers.

Thats like someone coming into your store with 2 credit cards. How many customers do you have, one or two?
If your software tells you that you have 2 customers in your store because it detects 2 credit cards but you only see one person there, do you believe the damn software or your eyes?
Now, explain how many watchers do you actually have when it shows you have -1 watchers? and when 2 people then become watchers and it show +1 watcher, how many do you actually have watching?
The system is flawed, it shouldnt have been introduced until it worked and we may never know when or if it will work.

You are going to love the latest over the prized counter taht records number of watchers on an auction.
A US Power Seller is running some fixed priced sales and it is showing that he has several "watchers" watching his listings.
As he pointed out, what are they watching, they are fixed prices, no bidding?

Yes, I do find it funny...Jeff (ospreylinks) said the same thing. I have people watching stuff in my eBay store, and you gotta wonder why.
Maybe they are waiting for thier paycheck to arrive, and they dont want to BIN until they know they can get thier payment to me within the prescribed 7 days? Or, watching a similar ring from another seller....if it gets bid up over my fixed price, they will BIN from me?(hopefull gleem in my eye) Maybe they are waiting for Aunt Mary to visit from Alaska, so they can measure her finger for ring size? Perhaps they are waiting to see if the makers of "Lord of the Rings" movies are going to make "The Hobbit" as well, so they know the ring will hold its value????

Thats like someone coming into your store with 2 credit cards. How many customers do you have, one or two?"
You have one customer, but your analogy is flawed. A "watcher" is a unique eBay account that has selected "watch this auction" on your item. One "cusomer" can be multiple watchers. The "number of watchers" system isn't flawed, your definition of customer is. One person with two credit cards is only one customer, but one person with two eBay accounts can be two watchers. The system isn't counting the number of human brains/souls/bodies/etc, it's counting the number of accounts.
That said, negative numbers should not be happening. I've never seen one, but I believe you when you say you have.
"A US Power Seller is running some fixed priced sales and it is showing that he has several "watchers" watching his listings. As he pointed out, what are they watching, they are fixed prices, no bidding?"
All I have are fixed price auctions, and some of them have 2, 3, or even more watchers. They're watching to see if I drop the price (which I sometimes do), or waiting for money to clear into their PayPal account because I require prompt payment, or they're going hunting for a better deal and if they can't find it they'll buy mine, or they're another seller watching to see if my auction sells or not, or they're just curious and they want to come back later and investigate further, or they plan to buy my item but they want to ask me a question first so they're waiting for my email response, etc.
