We open Unpaid Item Disputes and give the deadbeats a Strike.

This also gives us back our FVF on the item and forbids the deadbeat from leaving feedback.

Next we add the deadbeat to our Blocked Bidder List.

Then from our Seller Preferences, we enable an automatic Block on bidders with UID Strikes.

It should be noted that if a member has "too many" Strikes, his buying account will be closed by eBay. And we do hear from time to time from members who cannot bid on items because of Strikes.

Obviously, a NARU member cannot complain on the Boards.

Now.

Who do you think will read those negative comments?

Not your fellow sellers.

Most sellers use Fixed Price listings. And even Auction sellers often use Buy In Now or have the auction sniped.

None of those sellers can see a bidder's feedback until he has bid and probably won.

The reader will be your future customer.

And how will an honest buyer react to rude, vulgar namecalling in CAPS with exc!amat!ion po!nts!!! -- by using the backbutton to get away from a potentially difficult transaction?

There are some customer demographics which tend to be less reliable about paying than others. It is my observation that these include macho guys who rarely shop at all and starry eyed young women buying makeup.

What do you say when you encounter an even worse miscreant?
