Most sellers do not take ANY credit cards.
Instead we take Paypal which anonymizes your financial information and processes it.
PP charges sellers a small fee for this, but it is free to the buyer.
You can go to paypal.com and sign up for the service. They will send a tiny amount of money to your bank account.
When you confirm the amount, they take it back. The purpose of this exercise is to confirm your identity.
From there you can pay from your bank balance, but you are actually better to pay from a card and enjoy the benefits of the card's Buyer Protection policies.
EBay and PP both have strong Buyer Protection, but it is nice to have yet another layer. Problems are rare, but they can happen.
I am fairly sure that you can use the prepaid card with PP, but you should be aware that neither a prepaid card nor your bank account can refund you if there is a problem.
It would be best to use a real credit card, but you can take a chance and use a prepaid.
