Hello everyone.
I'm a Canadian and registered on ebay.ca. I have a Canadian credit card, a Canadian billing address and a Canadian shipping address.
I see an item I'd like to buy from a seller who has priced his item in US dollars. Please see screenshot. It says
Price: US $4.99
Approximately C $5.88.
Will ebay charge my credit card in US dollars (ignoring the C$5.88)? If so, I'm scared. I believe that in this situation, ebay will charge an extravagant foreign-exchange fee. Is your Paypal account tied to a credit card?
There is no fee to buyers for using Paypal.
Your credit card will do the foreign exchange (around that 88 cents CDN difference between the currencies) and a small fee, usually in the 2.5% range on the difference. (About 3 cents).
So we are talking pennies here.
That 2.5% is pretty average on credit cards, not particularly extravagant.
