Thanks marniel2005 re: A pinned thread to help avoid fraud.

I think this is a great idea and I will ask Carly if this is something she can help to coordinate in January.

Before you criticize someone you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them , your a mile away and you have thier shoes.

Re: Board Usage Policy:

Currently, a link to eBay Canada’s Board Usage Policy is located on the right-hand side navigational bar on the Discussion Board homepage. As well, on any discussion board page you will find a link to the Usage Policy at the top of the page and also on the right-hand side navigational bar.

A step-by-step How-to-Post guide is an interesting idea, and something I will raise with our team here.

We continuously rewrite and attempt to improve our Help content. As we speak, there are major rewrites underway and you will see these roll out throughout the next 12 months or so. Part of our objective in the current exercise is to make all the content shorter and simpler to understand, you should see these improvements within the next month...thank goodness!

Hi pierrelebel:

For the majority of 2004, Canada ran all of its promotions alongside the US. However, it soon became apparent that Canadian sellers need different opportunities than their US counterparts.

Starting in 2005, we began to run our own promotions schedule, which was tailored to the business needs of Canadians. Essentially, Canadian sellers are getting the best of both worlds as they can take advantage of the different promotions on .ca and .com.

The results of this strategy have proven to be quite impressive throughout 2005 and we have heard from many Canadian sellers that our promotions continue to be beneficial to their eBay businesses.

On another note, I will have an answer for you on the "consecutive positive feedback" question early in the New Year.

Hi Jordan. There are links to the Discussion board, but I can tell you from personal experience that I assumed "discussion" means just that, and not "help boards". I didn't bother checking out "discussion" boards for quite some time. Perhaps you could have a special link to at least New to eBay.

The Answer center is fine, but many people don't know they can also ask questions of New to eBay, User to User, and Bidding/buying boards

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our leg with a shopping cart, then apologizes for doing so, why do we say 'That's okay'? It ISN'T okay. So why don't we say 'That hurt, you stupid idiot?'

I have to say that the IT program is one that is finally showing that eBay is a place where variety & convenience is the primary selling feature. Way to Go!

I'm back.

Hi bunchofun:
We understand that fees directly impact our members, and we take care to ensure that any decisions to change fees are made only after careful consideration of this impact. Rest assured that none of these decisions are taken lightly.

Like every business, we continually evaluate the cost of business across all sites and may occasionally change fees (either decrease or increase) if the business necessitates it. Naturally, as we introduce or upgrade more optional features to the sites, there may be charges associated with the use of these features.

In Canada, we are especially aware of how seller fees impact overall seller economics and we hope to introduce several things in the New Year that will help Canadian sellers be more profitable in their selling on eBay.

Hi moogie1*:

In an effort to maintain safety in the marketplace, we have launched various initiatives to limit the amount of "Contact eBay Member" (CEM) messages that can be sent on a daily basis. CEM messaging includes all communications with other eBay members that does not involve a specific transaction on the site. The maximum number of CEM messages that can be sent per day is 10.

We put these security blocks in place to ensure that the system is not being abused to generate SPAM directed towards our members.

Since implementing this feature, we've been able to greatly reduce instances of abuse of the Contact a Member and Ask Seller a Question features. We will continue to invest in this area to ensure eBay remains a fun and safe trading environment for everyone.
