Maybe Pitney Bowes is getting back at us for trashing the GSP.
LOL

You Need canadapost.ca, We should all call CANADA POST, ask them we want the same rate as they give PAYPAL. Tell them PAYPAL is not working and we want to use there web site direct.
Also if you have a web site you can interreges there shipping and do the same with Purolator.
I know there shipping brokers, we should have one for Canadian web sellers. Some one that will negotiate for a group of sellers on the web to get the same rate or better. .

Alright, they have a problem and we have to wait - but does the seller get dinged for shipping late because of Paypal's slow response to this huge problem? I can always pay through CP now, but at a higher price, so this is definitely not cool.
05-11-2013 03:30 PM
Holy Christ, I can't even pay on CP as their system is not working at present! Unbelievably horrible service - that is life in Canada I suppose.

This is ridiculous, neither expedited nor tracked packet works

A few posts mentioned calling paypal about this issue.
Is there any doubt that they know about it?
I'm toying with calling them later today but only if there's a point.
Fixing this is just a matter of sliding a link in place for parcel vs.envelope so it's just bizarre that it's taking days to do that.
05-12-2013 11:11 AM
Make sure you click "Parcel" or "Envelope" or it will give you same error message not valid dimensions.
Working now. Atleast expedited parcel within Canada. I haven't tried any others.

The Canadian Expedited has always been working. The problem seems to be that the US side suddenly needs the same "envelope" or "parcel" election but no programmer has made that option available to select: hence it won't proceed to payment. VERY FRUSTRATING AND EXPENSIVE!!! :_|

For the first time since I started selling, I don't want transactions to go through and I have decided to suspend additional listings until they get this fixed. Why bother?
05-12-2013 12:09 PM
Guess we'll have to wait until Wednesday until for the Weekly Board session.Interesting that there are no Pinks around to offer an explanation when sellers' DSRSs and feedbacks are in jeopardy.I wonder if it was the buyers complaining what would be the response.

kashka, thanks for posting that, but were you able to get it work.
How do you get that list of options to show up.
It looks like he's just clicking on expedited but when I do that nothing happens.....
What am I missing?
05-12-2013 12:57 PM
Is it saying that you have to ship an item first, and then use ship another to get expedited USA to work?
05-12-2013 01:23 PM
You probably have to left click to get options to show up, not right click.

Still here..no..I'm sorry I haven't tried it..I was just relaying from what I saw on Seller Central on .com and thought perhaps it might help some here.I should have posted the the thread here but I will now..hope it works for you 🙂

You need software (for a price) that will let you edit an open webpage for this fix to work. He uses Dreamweaver. Not feeling all that confident I could use it even if I wanted to spend $50 to try. Why doesn't PayPal get on this??? It would take two seconds to fix it as we can now see from the YouTube video.

Changing the code on the fly like he did does not mean it is correct. All it means is that it is giving a result. Who knows if the rate given is correct?
05-12-2013 02:20 PM
I was able to reproduce the results in the video and make the package type appear on the PayPal shipnow page. Checking the package type as parcel allows you to to go to the next page. I did not actually print my test label but would assume it would work.
I was using FireFox with a free addon to edit the page on the fly. It took a few minutes of watching the video and understanding what is changed. I am not an HTML programmer but was able to mimic the method with a free addon for FireFox that I has downloaded to look at HTML for learning purposes in designing eBay listing templates.
However, the result may not be correct in the rate printed, in the billing to PayPal and Canada Post and other things I cannot think of. It is not recommended to alter the PayPal code like this. One must assume that the PayPal shipping page is not working for a reason and not just because of a simple coding error like this fix seems to imply.

I have also made the PayPal shipping work with the fix from the YouTube video with no special software. I right-clicked and selected "Inspect Element". Then I found the right code and changed the word from "Hidden" to "ShowBlock" and went back to the label and the selection for "Parcel" was there for me to select!! It does proceed correctly with the right postage (in answer to a previous question). I use Chrome.

As I mentioned before, if you alter the code and it makes Expedited Parcel "work", you have no idea if it is indeed "working" as far as billing to Canada Post, tracking, whatever. I do not recommend using this "fix" since you have no idea what it is doing.

Well, I was bemoaning the fact that I'd had no sales the past 3 days. Reading this string, I guess I should be glad, as I use Expedited USA a lot (and would use Tracked Packet too, if it had ever worked).
Regardless of site/shipping problems, eBay will still hold sellers to account for shipping within their stated handling times (see notes from "PJ" in an earlier post). I don't imagine they'll give us any grace period because Paypal can't deliver to us! How about at least some sort of up-front announcement to buyers?
I will use Canada Post's ship-in-a-click or go to the P.O. in person, and absorb the shipping losses until this mess is fixed. As someone else noted, it's strange that they can find programmers to fiddle around with the aesthetics of the eBay site while some major shipping services that are tied to everyone's business continue to be down. One of the best suggestions here was in fact to shut down listings that require tracked shipping until the problem is resolved -- but how long might that be?
The fact that Tracked Packet still isn't working properly after -- how many weeks is it now? -- doesn't give me much encouragement that this new problem will be remedied quickly. 😞
