Has anyone bought Larimar? I am worried it may not be real if I buy it.

I have a pending purchase from this seller.  The seller cannot verify that the Larimar I bid on is real or not and I do not know who can tell me whether it is real or not here in Canada.  What worries me is that the price was over $100 and my bid for $35 was accepted.  I did not expect that no one else would bid, or no one bid closer to the value stated.  I am buying it for health reasons and do not want to be dupped.

The seller has Feedback of 99.3% and the only negative in the past year is from a buyer who evidently did not know that silver tarnishes.

The price does not surprise me since most of the stones for sale on eBay are being offered well below your offer, with the ones that are higher being jewelry and the price probably reflecting the other materials and the craftsmanship.

If you are buying it for health reasons however, someone is duping you.

It's a **bleep**ing rock.

Buy it because it's pretty, but if you think it is going to improve your health, you have already been duped, and not by anyone on eBay.

From http://www.crystalvaults.com/crystal-encyclopedia/larimar

Larimar brings the ancient wisdom of Atlantis and the healing power of dolphins to harmonize the body and soul.  etc, etc, etc . . . . . .blah,blah,blah. . . . . Larimar is a wonderful stone for mothers, during and after pregnancy. It helps in alleviating post-partum depression, and relaxes the stress associated with new parenthood. [Ahsian, 230]

Post-partum depression is a serious illness and anyone who would make this claim is broadcasting very dangerous "advice" that could lead to poor outcomes for both mother and newborn.  (You truly can find anything on the internet.)

The same goes for any other claims.  If, however, your idea of "health reasons" is to help lift your spirits and increase your feeling of relaxation, it may help you achieve these on a temporary basis just because you want these effects.

The best that can be said for crystal "healing" is that it may induce a short-term placebo effect.  There is absolutely no evidence that crystal healing works over and above a placebo effect.

Anyone who has a health problem should consult a licensed regulated health practitioner.
