I've been deflowered- no more 100% positive feedback rating...

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can give me a pat on the back and welcome me to the club. The club of non-100% feedback. The club where they dislike EBay for taking away the ability for us to leave buyers bad feedback. The club where we wish we didn't rely so much on EBay for our business.

The buyer gave "fair" reasoning for her neutral feedback. She actually took the initiative to send me a message to tell me why she gave it to me. But she didn't do this until after she left the feedback. That IRRITATES me.
I order a LOT of stuff online, and don't always get what I necessarily expected, but that is what comes with buying online. You can't ding every seller because of that.
(sigh)
I will be waiting until I get my feedback now before leaving feedback for buyers.

angelsmiles123 - Unfortunately, the reality is buyers need do nothing more than bid, win, and pay.
Should they have a problem- they may or may not contact you. As for their leaving feedback before letting you know they were dissatisfied in some way- they were 100% within their rights to do so.
In the days when feedback was a more 'level playing field', and MUTUAL withdrawal was available- my attitude was NEG FIRST- ask questions later. In this way- there would be no doubt as to my position, and no hint of feedback extortion. With the NEG left, in my mind well deserved, mutual withdrawal would still be possible.

Now- without the possibility of retaliation, and the ability to leave a NEGATIVE at any time, the lack of a method for mutual feedback withdrawal is an issue that still rankles. Mistakes happen. And I can see where FEEDBACK should be able to be withdrawn by mutual consent.

In your case, it is likely that the buyer did not really understand the true impact of a NEUTRAL FB left. MOST, if not all buyers still believe that a NEUTRAL is just that- NEUTRAL !!!!!

It is eBay that has changed the definition, and on them rests the blame for the unfair impacting of your ratings.
The fault is eBay's, not the buyers. And, the buyer did take the time to explain, which is more than most would ever do. So, welcome to the club. We too will likely be joining you shortly!

Hi angelsmiles,

Welcome to the club although I wish you didn't have to join. You have a great feedback record and shame on the buyer who did not contact you first.

When I got my one and only negative, the buyer either missed the email or forgot that I gave her a full refund and the neg was totally undeserved. I was looking forward to reaching 1000 and regaining 100% positive status but the new system took that away from me. I didn't know at the time that I COULD file to have it withdrawn or it might have been gone today. Fortunately, I did have a neutral moved (one and only) and am so glad I did.

The new system stinks, what else can I say? Forget about it and hold your head high because you still have a great reputation!!

Have a great weekend.

I think most of us are feeling a bit stressful lately with the new stinky feedback system, feeling very unease and insecure.

it's shameful that ebay do something like this to demoralized their top selling team :(, but from the buyer's point of view it's a very useful tool as i am also a buyer and would have left a few neg for those dishonest sellers who ripped me off but i didn't because i was afraid of retaliation. Ebay definitely need a more sophisticated modeling to deal with this issue. What the heck are all those expensive MBA they hired doing?

You deserve more than a pat, let me give you a hug.

i was planning my obituaries as well 😞

After over 1000 positive feedbacks, That would hurt.
I am glad I got it early- even though, I should not have. Post office took too long, I get blamed. and it was a neutral. Which, as I've heard said before, should NOT count as Negative. after all, is it Neutral!!!!!

I'm pretty deep into the "club", a community leader as it were, with well over 50 neutrals and 50 negs to my name.

Congratulations on your new lowered search standing and higher ebay fees, all thanks to a single neutral feedback!

I sent a very "nice" email back to that customer who ruined my 100% positive feedback rating-haha. What irritated me the most was that she EMAILED me after to tell me why, but didn't give me the chance to correct the problem first. I offer refunds. She could have returned the journals & I would have given her a refund, or she could have kept the journals & I would have offered her a partial refund, since her complaint was that she wasn't getting the value for her money. I am NOT out to rip anybody off. I design all my products, and started my company (& products) because of my special needs son, so having people be happy with their purchase is very important to me. I don't try to force sales just to make a buck.

So, I responded to her email. I wasn't nasty, but I told her I didn't appreciate not being given the chance to correct the problem and why. Funny thing, she didn't respond back... I bet she'll think twice next time about ruining someone's rating.

Two different things are happening here- and I will address both...and yes, I can handle the criticism that will come.

BUT- I must ask, WHY are you being so complacent accepting less than you expect when shopping online, and not seeking redress from those sellers, when you get less than you expect?
I accept that you order online- and that sometimes things are not as the appear. What are your options? Complain to the seller? Return the item for a refund? Seek redress through a third party like a Credit Card with some added protection feature? Are there options? What are they?
You say you can't ding every seller. I agree that when it's an online BIG NATIONAL STORE- it's not easy- if not impossible. However, they usually have the best customer service. So, are we talking about eBay? If so, why do expect less of other sellers, than of yourself? Some things are minor- if you are having a problem, why are you not leaving appropriate feedback? That is your right.
Just as the buyer of your item left you feedback expressing their displeasure. That was their right. They excercised it- yet you appear reluctant to do the same when you are not satisfied? I am confused.

You also say that you will now wait to leave feedback.
Why? It doesn't matter when you leave it. And, it doesn't matter what you write AS LONG AS IT IS POSITIVE! So, no matter what the buyer says or when- if you choose to leave feedback, you pretty much have to follow THE ROSY SUNNY HAPPY eBAY FEEDBACK RULE for buyers!

As an aside- I am totally convinced that a buyer who leaves a NEUTRAL FB, does not necessarily have any clue that it is anything but NEUTRAL. Buyers generally could care less, or be educated about such things. POWER SELLERS appear to care. The average buyer does not!

I'm part of this wonderful club too. I had well over 2000 100% FB when ebay decided to count in my two neutral.

Stupid neutrals too.

The first was someone thought a sweatshirt was too small even though I provided accurate measurements in the listing.

The second was even more irritating. It was local pic-up for a new small air compressor. The person came to my door to pick it up. I started opening the box to show him the compressor, offered to plug it in to make sure it works and said I wanted to make sure it was what he wanted. He told me he was sure it was fine and not to worry about it. My parting words to him as I shut the door were "please let me know if you have any problems with it". Two weeks later he left neutral saying it looked used.

Can you tell it still bothers me? lol

I got it early on, but have never had a problem, since then I have been working hard to get it back to 100%, almost there now i am back at 99.9%, but even to get to a 100 it will take some time. Thanks.

"The buyer gave "fair" reasoning for her neutral feedback. "

You should be back at 100% next month as eBay stops counting neutral feedback in feedback percentage. .

Lorrie Norrington

Hello everyone - It's been less than a month since I saw many of you at eBay Live!, and already I have more news to share. In Chicago, I provided progress updates on many of the changes we've made over the past six months; early indications tell us that we're getting a lot of things right, as evidenced by more sellers improving their DSRs and fewer top buyers reporting bad experiences.
Many of you told me personally that you believed the changes were for the better, but we also heard concerns from Community members around the world about Feedback. As I said at eBay Live!, we are listening. Open, constructive discussion about what's working and what's not is a strength of our Community, and essential to the collective good of eBay. When we get something wrong, we want to make it right. And when you have ideas that benefit the collective good, we want to make them happen. To that end, we are making the following changes based on your input.

Recalculating Feedback percentages without neutrals: Effective in late August, neutrals will no longer be counted as part of the Feedback percentage. This means we will be recalculating Feedback percentages retroactively for users worldwide. In the interim, no one will lose their PowerSeller status as a result of neutrals being included in their Feedback percentage.

Helping you resolve issues and satisfy buyers: By the end of October, we will roll out a new process to help you resolve issues with buyers, even after the buyer has left negative feedback. Everybody makes mistakes – buyers and sellers alike, and buyers should have a mechanism to change feedback if they make a mistake or if the seller rectifies an issue in a timely manner. Unlike with our previous Mutual Feedback Withdrawal system, our new process will enable buyers to change their feedback of the seller, not just withdraw the rating. We'll provide more details of this new process in the fall.

This is part of our overall effort to improve the customer experience, especially for sellers. In fact, we're already making progress in addressing one of your biggest pain points -- removing negative and neutral feedback left by buyers who violate our policies. For example, since we debuted the new Feedback system in May, we have removed more than 60 percent of the negative/neutral feedback left by buyers in an unpaid item (UPI) process. Looking ahead, you will see us continue to take the steps needed to protect your reputation on eBay. In the meantime, you can also protect yourself by following some well-defined best practices in using Feedback. I encourage you to check them out.

Finally, we're working to resolve other important issues that eBay sellers have raised over the past several months. I hope what I've shared with you today demonstrates our commitment to listening and responding quickly with solutions. We want to make eBay a great place for you to do business, but it's going to take all of us -- together -- to get it right for the collective good. I want to thank you for your patience, your business and your continued commitment to eBay.

Sincerely,

Lorrie Norrington

Nice, too bad my neg will be long past its due date to be removed =/ Only made it to 220 ish this time before my first neg (international buyer that waited over 9 days to pay then gave me negative feedback for the package taking too long to arrive =/ Shipped it the next day. Ah well. I'm in the club. I just wish I knew why one neg can drop me to normal search standing when my DSR's are all over 4.7 =/ I don't think ill ever really understand their system...
