The worst, in my opinion, is that these increases always come as a surprise. Canada Post only published their letter mail increase amounting to a lousy .01 cent as of Jan 13/06. But the hefty increases, US surface mail being the worst, go un-noticed until the day they become effective. My present listings show the lowest shipping rate as being surface mail, with a rate that is now surprisingly outdated - once again! We lose before the rates even become effective! .70 to .95¢ for every parcel!! Good job CP ...as always!!!
Increase was announced at least 4 months ago, percentage rate of the increase officially announced 4 - 6 weeks ago. Printed sheets with the new prices available at the post office since the beginning of the month.
While I agree that it would be helpful to have the specific information several months in advance, to say you didn't know until the day of the increase is ridiculous especially as the increases don't happen until next week!
If you are in the mailing business you need to stay on top of these things. Especially as there has been an annual January increase for as long as I can remember.
