Hi guys,
So feedback 2.0 is not what you'd like it to be...personally I get a giggle to myself when I see that my lowest rating is on shipping charges when the reality is I charge basically what I pay and that my prices are lower than all my competitors who ship from the US!!
But guys and gals it seems a lot of you are not seeing the bigger picture. All of you that think ebay is working to hurt sellers are not getting it. Despite ebay's strength in the online auction marketplace, the reality is there is still way more people who don't shop ebay or online than there are that do. There is still a lot of people who don't feel comfortable with the whole idea because some of the horror stories of the past still linger. What our company sees is ebay continually trying to make their site more buyer friendly and a more safe place to buy stuff. These efforts are bringing more and more new customers to the site, and more potential customers means better business opportunity for us sellers. This new feedback system is part of those efforts. The system gives those of us that do a good job overall an opportunity to stand out from the crowd. At the same time it will weed out the crappy sellers who's poor efforts hurt all of us, even if they only tick off one person towards ebay, because that one person might tell 10 people about their experience and so on.
I check out these boards very seldom because I am too busy working my business. But all the times I've checked it over the last several years it always seems some sellers are ticked about something concerning feedback. In the past I'd always laugh when I saw a seller going off about how one or two negatives ruined their business and/or reputation and how because of that their business has died etc etc. That was BS then, and it is now...If you've got items people want, 4 plus stars showing and a 98%+ overall rating showing then you've got nothing at all to worry about.
Mtlmaps you're overreacting to this...your feedback is 100% and people will still buy from you the same as always so stop stressing yourself. And when you get your first negative, which you will get eventually if you're in this for the long-term, don't lose a second of sleep over it because you're doing an overall fantastic job and it won't hurt your pocket one bit. When a clueless Canadian customer bitches about shipping charges simply respond politely and explain that it's Canada post, not you, who is charging more within Canada than to the US. If they still don't get it and they make a low score in that particular category...who cares...in the long term if you continue to do the excellent job you are doing now then the numbers will work in your favour and you'll stand out. Dude, save your energy for building your business cuz that's where your energy belongs.
C'mon guys and gals!!...Think positive!!...More and more people around the world are making ebay shopping part of their lives because almost no one is getting burned anymore. That's good for all of us...more customers means more sales, more bidding wars and all that good stuff. And with that ebay understands that our increased sales/profits will get them their increased fees. They win by helping us win. Our company is tickled pink that ebay is working hard to get more and more people here, that's their job, let them do it. And we'll take care of our job. There is great opportunity here, don't miss it cuz you're blind from sweating the small stuff!!
