Pay Ebay Fees with Paypal Credit Card

Hello all,

havn't posted here for awhile. I have always used my PPCC to pay my ebay fees, however, this month the fees were charged to my other credit card (canaidan credit card)

I'm not sure if this is the result of the new myEbay format or because I upgraded my paypal to a business account. I tried to place my PP credit card on file to pay the seller's fees, but have no luck. Any suggestions?

thanks,

Jeff

There are threads here about this, you'll have to do a search, or just wait until someone comes along with the correct information. It's a complicated process to get it working again - they make it REALLY hard because they don't want you to get the 1.5% back. It involved putting in a special code (letters and numbers) instead of your actual address, when you input your credit card info. It makes no sense, but that's how they did it. There's nowhere to get the information you need except in this forum.

That's pretty screwed up, eh? I feel lucky I haven't had to change my credit card info since I first set it up that way. My buddy had to, and he was TICKED that they make it so hard now. In fact, impossible unless you know the code.

I tried to change it to accept my Paypal Credit card for automatic payment but every time I do it tells me the address is invalid (HUH???). Anyhow, what I do now, and there is NEVER a problem, is I make a one time credit card payment each month. For some reason my address seems perfectly acceptable when I do it this way, but it does not allow me to use the PP CC as the card on record. GO FIGURE

I do still get the 1.5% though so I figure what the heck, it's worth the few minutes of effort it takes me to make a manual payment each month.

Do a search for postings by mahsauctions. I posted the info I got from the Paypal rep on how to add the PPCC to pay for Ebay fees.

Thanks so much everyone. I got it working now and I printed the instructions out now

It's funny going to that thread and see myself participating before and asking similar questions 😄

That old thread is a great read. Man, I sounded like an advertisement in there... but it's all true 🙂

Here's the info again... certainly doesn't hurt to have another copy of it.

Under Billing Address line type in your address then space and then city.
Under City type in your province code
Under state/province type in FC
Under Postal Code type in 00000
Under country select United States

VERY stupid, but that's what you gotta do. And eBay/PayPal don't advertise that anywhere. They'd be happy if we all stopped getting the 1.5% back, and better conversion rates, etc.

Hi, this may be a silly question but how do you figure out your province code. I am in Ontario. Is this simply ON or is this something else?

I figured it out... thanks.

Why have all the other posts been deleted in this forum?

If by "forum", you mean "thread" then they're not deleted, you just can't see them anymore. This board (forum) uses a really outdated kind of software. Posts you have read (or have appeared on your screen) go away. Sometimes you can click "previous" or other buttons to see them again, but it's hit and miss. Just do your best to follow along, that's what we do.

I'm bumping this one as my eBay debit card was pulled off of my account due to eBay's refresh last night.

Took me 2 hours, 4 long distance phone calls and reading this thread while waiting once again on hold to find out why it wouldn't take my PayPal debit card again.

How frustrating!

Hello all,

When Joanne called me in the truck to tell me about this, I thought it was a spoof. What is the prevailing wisdom on the best way to short circuit this mess? Are debit cards suspended too?

Thanks

Hi all,

This is the e-mail reply I just got from e-bay. This leads me to ask- What the heck is going on?

Brad
------------------------------------------
Hello,

Thank you for contacting eBay's Trust and Safety Department about email
solicitations that are falsely made to appear to have come from eBay.
These emails, commonly referred to as "spoof" messages, are sent in an
attempt to collect sensitive personal information from recipients who
reply to the message or click on a link to a Web page requesting this
information.

The email you reported did not originate from, nor is it endorsed by,
eBay. We are very concerned about this problem and are working
diligently to address the situation. We are currently investigating the
source of this email to take further action. You may rest assured that
your account standing has not changed and that your listings have not
been affected.

We advise you to be very cautious of email messages that ask you to
submit information such as your credit card number or your email
password. eBay will never ask you for sensitive personal information
such as passwords, bank account or credit card numbers, Personal
Identification Numbers (PINs), or Social Security numbers in an email
itself. If you ever need to provide information to eBay please open a
new Web browser, type www.ebay.com, and click on the "site map" link
located at the top of the page to access the eBay page you need.

If you have any doubt about whether an email message is from eBay,
please forward it immediately to spoof@ebay.com and do not respond to it
or click on any of the links in the email message. Please do not change
the subject line or forward the email as an attachment.

If you entered personal information such as your password, social
security number or credit card numbers into a Web site based on a
request from a spoofed email, you need to take immediate action to
protect your identity. We have developed an eBay Help page with valuable
information regarding the steps you should take to protect yourself.

To get to the "Protecting Your Identity" Help page from the eBay site,
please click on the "help" link located at the top of most eBay pages
and select the following topics when the "eBay Help Center" window
appears:

Safe Trading > If Something Goes Wrong > Identity Theft

We encourage you to review additional information about protecting your
identity found in the eBay Help system. Please click on the "help" link
located at the top of most eBay pages and select the following topics
when the "eBay Help Center" window appears:

Safe Trading > If Something Goes Wrong& > Account Theft > Account
Protection

Once again, thank you for alerting us to the spoof email you received.
Your vigilance helps us ensure that eBay remains a safe and vibrant
online marketplace.

Regards,

Ian

Hi phoenix_top_drawer, we're talking about difficulty paying eBay fees using PayPal mastercards... not spoof emails. There are a few spoof email threads, I suggest you check them out.

PS: the response you got from spoof@ebay.ca is an automated response to your inquiry. Anytime you email that address, it will reply with that result, unless it detects that the attached forwarded email is one sent by the system. I've forwarded them joke emails before, and they reply with the same "that email isn't endorsed nor did it originate from eBay" reply.

My Paypal Mastercard/debit card was pulled too - I was suddenly hit with a cap of $30 in fees. Live help, then a call to PS support finally determined that we needed to re-enter our credit card - which meant that whole routine with FC and 00000.

The next day i finally received a response to my e-mail enquiry to PS support. Instead of an apology, it was inane rambling about needing to keep a valid credit card on file (not that some maintenance they did kicked my card out of the system) Gee, thanks!
